Personally, my perfect Sims game would have a totally random ‘story’. Not a set in stone one, the same sims always ending up with each other in every new game (though their relation bars and personalities should play a part in this respect) and the Strangerville concept for me rather completely destroys every bit of imagination that I have than that it supports it. I don’t need the game to tell me stories, I want it to give me ideas. So what I would love, is the possibility for my sim’s brother (for instance, I play generational) to have a great career, ór (random, I want the game to decide that, be it based on his character, skills and relationships) be a complete failure. Even having to move to a smaller place due to lack of money. I have no idea if that’s doable, but that’s what would make my perfect game, because that would hand me ideas and storylines and that’s all I need when playing this game.
This is why Sims 3’s crippled version of SP did do the job for me (and I miss that after they toned it down). Me putting a girl into my world for my sim to meet and fall in love with, few days later I meet her and she appears to be pregnant. By my sim’s old, bachelor uncle it turned out. That for me is hilarious. It was ridiculous, unexpected, odd, not at all what I had planned but also a great new direction in my story I used. I do understand and appreciate why for people who want to control everything that happens in their game it was horrible, but I absolutely loved it and miss it now that it’s gone for some reason.
