The Sims 4 worlds are way too small !!!

In some of the pictures you see sims walking on the sides of houses and through yards and I find that a bit odd. If I see someone walking on the side of my home I will call the cops because I think it's a burglar or peeping tom. And when I walk outside, I might see a few dog walkers, but rarely do I see 20 sims just gathered on the sidewalk chatting it up. The most you see is someone going from their car to their home or relaxing in their yard.
I think as people play, the illusion will quickly fade. Those tiny lots do not have much space so the most sims will do is use a few objects and stand around chatting or looking into space, which I've seen plenty of in the videos.
This is that area zoomed in. I see that area in the background and I want to play there. I assumed that would be a neighborhood, but apparently, it's just decoration. And that area has been featured in many screenshots, lit up at night with christmas lights around them. I never thought we wouldn't get to play those lots. The extent of their false advertising is working my last nerve. Seriously.
