Yeah, the AI system would probably require some tweaking but I have faith in the Sims Team. *snip
I think it would require much more than just tweaking. They'd have to create ways of giving us influence on other household members rather than the direct control we have now. They could work on how much influence we have according to their personal traits and moodlets. Things like rebellious teens would obviously have to be much different than school focused and career minded teens.
Relationship between married couples would also need options the keep the marriage healthy or a spouse may start feeling neglected, lonely, etc., and again depending on traits, the way you spend together would have a larger or smaller impact...
So, yeah this would probably have to be a major expansion pack. - I think it would be great to have the option of making some members in a household NPC!

I might be in the minority but I play with all of my sims. I typically don't focus on one single sim but on all of them. That can be a challenge in a big household but I still do it. I use the pause button to then line up actions for them. If they autonomously decide to do something I might let them continue doing it but I generally come up with a series of actions for all of the sims.
I'll rotate from a big household to a smaller household when I want a break, but I guess I find it interesting or easy. If anything, it takes a while to fill up the needs of all the sims in bigger households, but I manage it. Sometimes I send them all out to a venue together. I guess I like managing groups of sims. Sometimes, I like the ease of playing a smaller household though.
I mentioned this elsewhere but I generally have some concept of what motivates any given sim. It sounds complicated but it isn't. "Here's Jane Sim, she's the mother of the household. After her much needed shower, breakfast and caffeinated beverage of choice she will either spend time with her family or enjoy a little time to herself. Does she have any chores to do?" Line up a series of actions and check on her later or glance at her as she's at some stage in the activities. If I have a specific plan then obviously that takes priority.
This is pretty much exactly what I do too. Minority maybe, but you're not the only one.
What OP suggests is not necessarily what I want or need for my my style of game play, but I'm all about options. Just because it's not for me doesn't mean it shouldn't be made available for others. The Sims 4 could use a whole lot more game play options and settings in my opinion.- alexspoom135 years agoSeasoned AceI'd like them to be able to remain in the household but have NPC careers like maid, pizza delivery, nanny etc.
- mariefoxprice835 years agoSeasoned AceI would definitely use this in larger households from time to time.
- Frn07315 years agoSeasoned Aceyes , but we already have it in the form of roommates. Just take the sim you want and make him homeless. Then ask the sim to be a roomate.
- CaprianaB5 years agoSeasoned AceI would love this option for my larger households. Would be especially nice if we had the option to select which Sims we want to turn to NPCs and be able to revert them back to playable whenever we want

That would be the general purpose of the option. It's not to make them never playable but to temporarily turn off access to them until, if ever, we are ready to focus on them.- This would be very nice for gameplay, but could cause issues for story writers.
Forster Care mod allows me to mimic this idea in regards to children. - texxx785 years agoSeasoned Ace

I would love this option. When my households start to get big i find myself trying to keep all sims on the green and doing basic stuff and the storyline more than often gets lost. But i like to play all kind of households, specially big ones.
So if we had this option, i would play the heir of each generation and also the heir-to-be from maybe teen... So the idea of being able to revert sims back to playable would really fit.
