This is when I want to throw the game in the bin

Go to class - stays sitting in chair for over an hour past school starts before even standing, then will take close to an hour to get to class, before standing outside the building for another hour, of course finally enters for the last 2 mins of class
I try to make them get up 3 hours before class to make sure they'll leave on time
Eat - stands there with plate in hand for another hour before sitting and then stares for an hour before eating.

She's in a dorm, but I have no other players in the game

:'( what's the point of playing a game you can't play... happens all the time, in all different situations

I just want to play

My computer, all the computers I've played on have had the right specs, above the specs, so why can't it just work :(

  • I couldn't let my sim live in a dorm more than one term. The annoyance was unbearable. So was the idle bored and inspired animations, and luckily, I can mod that away. Although that means I don't see any emotion idles, I can live with it.

As buggy as dorms are right now, I prefer to live in the family home, or buy the sim their own house.
  • That was my biggest peeve with university. Classes are like one sim hour long but your sim refuses to leave their dorm until class starts and then it takes them 40 minutes to get to class :s I always had to teleport my sim outside the university just before class started.

Then if you teleport them too early they'll walk away and do something else before class starts, or if you teleport too late they'll cancel teleporting and will insist on walking the entire way and there's nothing you can do about it. They really need to just add an option to leave for class before it actually starts
  • sounds like its gotten a lot buggier since the last time i played. i dont really play university packs much so i havent experienced it more frustrating. but it sounds really buggy. the game is supposed to get less buggier as time goes by not worse.
  • My Sims never do that?
I just had two Sims in a row go thru Uni, one at each school, and they never ever ever refused to enter class.

As for running off? Keep them busy. I just give them a soccer ball and if they're more than 10 min early just make them juggle.
    Or make them do homework.

Unless you want the campus life of the groups, parties etc I’d advise living in a residential lot as some other posters have said it’s so much easier. I’ve actually turned some of the city living apartments into a “student dorm” it seems to work well the sims go to classes on time, there is noise from neighbours although it’s annoying it gives it that more realistic student dorms vibe and you can place a cooker in the apartment too. I added random townies and enrolled them in a uni course and then ignore them so my sim has student flatmates or there is the roommate function you can use.

I did that too. Those small houses I enlarged and they became large enough for 6 students and two adults to look after them, with cooking meals etc. They had a study on the second upper floor, with 6 desks and laptops, each secured for one of them only and toilet nearby. It worked like a charm. Three simple added bedrooms for two students each.

They all had their social needs filled at lunchtime and they all went out as a group, to the Library and in winter I found the skating rink included with it so they had fun too.

I can recommend this way, rather than the Dorms. Their adults could also vote for Eco Lifestyle repeals via the postbox and the young adults got better scholarships, as they were living in the world after posting their University requests via the postbox outside.
