Just a question. How come Sims 4 caters to age 5 to 8?
I could be wrong but I would think it's to reach a wider audience? Because they know the loyal fanbase will buy either way. I really don't like the childish, silly cuteness this game is built on but I'm still playing because there is no alternative anyway. I do really enjoy it but I'm just saying.
Now with the added childish or cute stuff parents would have no problem buying this for their kids. Because everything is happy and non controversial. Seems like a win win from a business perspective.
this, and also cuz kids don't rly have critical thoughts, they just want something fun to play with. if ea had to cater to adults they know more cash would have to be spent cuz they'd have to make good quality products as adults ain't easily impressed.
obviously there are exceptions for anything but still.- SEREFRASSeasoned VeteranThanks Babykittyjade, that cleared up what I was always wondering for the past 6 years. Also, it does make sense why they promote the Sims 4 game as a very young child friendly game. I've seen some of the alternatives that are so violent, crude, grotesed & taboo. That's why I only stick to my Sims 3/4/Medieval, Age of Empires, Civilization VI & Beyond Civilization games.

Yeah I think so too, I think their marketing is trying to reach the next generation, not people who know about the sims but younger people who watch and play games like fortnite and minecraft and doesn't usually buy their packs, but their parents mostly buy it for them. Like their FIFA games.
It's an odd decision because I'm pretty sure that they have admitted that their main audience is 18-24 year olds (with a high female percentage). So they don't target their main audience.
That, or their marketing thinks that this is what they like. - kathmhughesNew Spectator

I guess I'm a 7 year old?
Nope, I'm 37 with a PhD. Married with a kid.
How come 95% of video games are dark, violent, and have terribly dull palettes? If you don't like perky and happy there are tons of first person shooter, horror rpg, and crime, war, gore themed games.
I love video games AND bright colorful, wonderful happy things. But doesn't leave me with much aside from Mario, Animal Crossing and Sims. "ChadSims2;c-17766486" wrote:

I don't know why people always equate "adult" or "mature" with violence and super dark themes. I feel like it gives adults a bad name ??I hate those violent things. I can't speak for anyone else but my idea of adult is just not being so silly, smiling like jokers 24/7, talking to toilets, falling out with their backside sticking in the air after a vampire bite?(totally kills the mood) having a pack based on mildly scary themes that gives a bit of fright for those of us who like it. With a dark swampy world and the kraken swimming around, ghosts that don't invite you to birthday parties for a late night chat, no woohoo fist pump, no silly flirty movements from your hot date but more of a charming gentleman,
A fear emotion, enemies that actually don't wash your dishes, burgerlers, cops, consequences, jail time etc. Everything can still be fun and sims like without gore, violence or any of those things. Yet mature without passing the teen rating.
Of course everyone is different. Nothing wrong if you love the way it is now ? "CAPTAIN_NXR7;c-17767764" wrote:
Another Stuff pack vote was for Fun-Tech, which included the option to vote for a Voidcritter locator (which I assume is now part of the Snowy Escape kiddies festival?) and a Portable Hologram Best Friend. This is exactly what comes to mind when I see the little green blobsies. Cute Holographic Voidcritter things that need to be located. By a paranormal investigator. They're probably portable too.
What doesn't come to mind is the Happy Haunts I voted for. This looks like Cutesy 'Haunts'. I'm not sure how much more cute I can take in The Sims 4, but I can probably deal with it...
You never know, may be theyll turn red and spit fire or acid to kill your sims if you do the wrong thing... meaning, doing one single option in three different steps, to make sure it was your decision and imply that you understand that it may kill you sims, but still having a little bubble telling you you are about to do something really stupid, and that there is still a chance 90% that your sims will survive! ???? sims 4 logic, to be make yourself (player) a misery for wanting killing your sims.- SEREFRASSeasoned VeteranI noticed that in my Civilization IV, Beyond Civilization, Age of Empires & Sims Medieval never had to make their games too cute for it to be nice games.
- SimburianSeasoned RookieAt this moment I want packs to cheer me up. I dark stuff can come after we've beaten any virus's around. I'm ok with that.
I still want my cemeteries or graveyards and mausoleums or Grimmie's house to go to, to mourn or be frightened by when I'm in the mood though. It is part of real life and should be in this game. - I'm just afraid they're using these cute ghosts as a way not to update the base game ghosts... They seriously need a revamp.
It's also a pity it's just a stuff pack. I guess that means new more in-depth features such as cemeteries won't be included.
