I have always found toddlers a nightmare but in this play through they are just the worst! This sim family's children are all cursed or something. I can never get my sim parents to take care of the toddlers. They will put them in their chair but won't give them food. They will almost never give the toddler what they need when they "Check Toddler". One parent sets their kid down in a high chair with food while the kid is starving then the other parent walks over and takes them out! I sit there and try to command them to take care of their kid but most the time it barely works out well. Then toddlers run around and make messes every 10 seconds and smash their siblings doll house. Trying to get a toddlers emotions right is terrible. I tried hiring a nanny for extra help and the nanny doesn't even care about the kid. The Butler has too many jobs to focus on the kid. The siblings aren't old enough to feed it and stuff. Everyone wants to play with the Baby but the second it reaches toddler all hell breaks loose and all the adult sims are like "Peace out". Then they become children and all is well again. I hope I'm not the only person struggling this bad. I don't know why the heck I made my sims have another kid. This toddlers older brother was driving me bonkers as well cuz every time I fed him cereal he'd throw it on the floor. However the twins my sims had before this baby were a lot easier to take care of. This is like the Grim Reapers child or something! Throwing tantrums and being mean to everyone. This kid was born for the "Mean" or "evil" traits.

This is EXACTLY why I never have a high chair in any of my sim's home. What I do with toddlers is I will have someone fix a serving of whatever, and let them put it down where ever. Then I will direct the toddler to go over and take a plate. They will then go find themselves a chair to sit down and eat their meal, and they won't throw it on the floor that way. The reason I mentioned servings is that later on after the toddler wakes up, I will take the leftovers out of the refrigerator, and again direct the toddler to take a plate. If their bedroom is to far away, I will just place the serving platter in their bedroom, and have them grab a plate there.Now as far as breaking the dollhouse, just lock the door to not allow the toddler in their older siblings room, assuming they have their own bedrooms.

When I play with toddlers I kind of assume I have to take care of them as the main sim or the one being controlled. I have them click on the nanny or butler and ask for things also like food or help with training or playing with something. I don't play with them often but when I do no one is starving and they are advancing pretty well. I don't use high chairs though unless I watch them like a hawk. I play with autonomy off for the sim I'm controlling but on for everyone else in the household. I have one household where I'm bringing up an evil little one and a good one.. it's interesting..So are you playing with autonomy on and just watching?

Okay, I found this a little funny. The mother in this playthrough is really struggling with her toddler and her other 3 kids. the two twins and her child that's a ghost, keeps haunting the place and breaking things. Well, their family friend and a dog died so she's really sad and went to go right a sad book and the game choose the title to be "Mother Doesn't Love You Any More."

Toddlers... Most difficult thing ever!

High chairs must be avoided. You can make a food and have the toddler take a plate. They'll sit down somewhere and eat it. Saved me from a lot of frustration.

Oh when I play a household everyone is running with autonomy on except the one I'm "playing". So they still get up some to some wacky stuff. I just have time to steer them better that way. It's still kind of like herding cats :D

And this is why I just cut out the middle man, so to speak. When sims become parents, they also lose any smarts they may have had. They aren't capable of taking care of themselves for the most part, and certainly not taking care of little ones. And what's with their need to go and WATCH the toddlers all the time?! They don't do anything, just stand there and LOOK at their offspring. Its pointless.

I make sure there is plenty of food in the fridge, so the bundle of joy can help him/herself. The parents are allowed to interact with them for socials and bathtime. That's it. No high chairs in any of my houses, ever. Like it was said, avoid them like the plague (like many other objects sims obsess over). I've saved myself plenty of frustration by just keeping the caretakers busy with their own things, and taking care of the toddlers myself.

Lol! The funny thing is that toddlers are a full time job in real life too. I am trying to get the hang of the parent hood stuff with my Goth family. And I just added a kitten and washer and dryer and Mortimer just started the political career..... I’m like tearing my hair out... lol. I only have one family with a toddler right now. I’m going to have to figure out this parenthood stuff with the toddler next (when I rotate). I ditched the high chair too, might try it again later when I am more used to the parenthood pack.
