Townie Households Almost All Have Same Structure

Has anybody else noticed this? For whatever reason, townie households almost always have the exact same structure. For me, it's just about always either single elder households (seriously, elders EVERYWHERE), households composed of a single parent and one child, or single teen households, which shouldn't even be POSSIBLE, given how you can't do this in CAS yourself (there HAS to be at least one parent or grandparent). Some other very clear townie trends I've noticed:

- Parents and children often look NOTHING alike. For example, I recently had a family spawn with a single mother and her son. The mother had dark skin and blonde hair, while the son had light skin and black hair. They also had absolutely no facial features in common.

- The townie generator clearly seems to favor adults over young adults. When I get a single Sim household that isn't a teen or elder, it's almost always an adult, hardly ever a young adult.

- Sims with Japanese or Middle Eastern names almost always have either red or blonde hair. It's hardly ever any other hair color. That can't be a coincidence! It happens way too often for it to just be a coincidence.

- The townie generator is totally obsessed with CL and Vampires content. I have all packs and EPs, so it seems odd to me that every townie would spawn in predominantly CL and Vampires content. There are lots of potential clothes for the townies to spawn in, but the generator seems to have a clear bias for clothing from CL and Vampires. Odds are, if you don't see them wearing Vampires clothing for their everyday outfit, they're probably wearing them for their formal or party outfits.

- CL names are especially common, and repeat frequently. The new CL names are really nice, but I'm starting to wonder if they added many of them into the mix, because names repeat all the time. I often have several families with the exact same surnames, exact same first names, or exact same first AND surnames. Some new names for the randomizer to choose from would be nice. Curiously, I am not seeing any of these names pop up when I randomize names in CAS.

- For some reason, the townies are obsessed with the eyeball ring. About 1/3 of townies that spawn in my game at any given time are wearing the eyeball ring. If they aren't wearing it for their everyday outfit, they're usually wearing it for their party outfit.

Is it just me? I also made a thread on this in Answers HQ.

We're aware of some of the issues mentioned, but not all. We'll look into them.

That's wonderful to hear. Thank you!
  • Same thing I mentioned before and I doubt they will bother fixing it. If you have City and Vampires installed...you almost never get any other type of sims. And they usually always come in pear shape. I delete all vampires before starting my normal plays but still have vampires spawning in and knocking on the door every night. With CL installed you only get Asian and ME sims, often with names I can't pronounce.
  • 9/10 the game spawned households are single for me, one sim, maybe two on a good day, family if I’m lucky, House with a single dog if I’m blessed, the sims however are always the same shapes in terms to what gender they are, basically women are large in the hips with either huge knock you into space or teeny tiny chest mushrooms, the men are wide on top and narrower than your grans hallway on the bottom and they are almost always pale with dark red hair!

This will only change with a single sim household but then most times they’re wearing the vampire clothes and are almost always vampire, with the occasional rare alien which I’m hoping for.

Once or twice a single teen appears and they have this weird inside down stingray appearance, narrow chest with hips that wouldn’t fit through a doorway,

Nothing varies unless I take them into CAS and do it myself, in terms to facial design they look related because there’s no difference to them at all, the game just keeps churning out copies of the same basic sim and it annoys me more than when we had the issue with all the women spawns having gigantic chest cushions for months straight before an upset lessoned the chance.

I know the game is always busy doing background work as we play but I’d like equality in terms to it using all the sim design options we’ve been given because I’m done having to constantly delete spawns and then having a new sim appear with the exact same face or body.

There’s been a few disturbing times where if I get a family of four, they tend to be identical, same hair, same face, same shape, like clones instead of just kids looking a lot like mom or dad, it’s creepy because genetics only go so far in terms to looking similar...if this was fallout 4 I’d accuse them all of being synths.
  • Sorry for resurrecting this old thread almost an entire year later, but I think it just became relevant again. You know that big patch we had recently, probably the biggest one yet? Well, this apparently hasn't been fixed in that patch! This honestly surprised me. You'd think that a bug as prevalent as this one would have had at least some time devoted to it. It's been known about for around two years now.

If this is happening to you, please click 'me too' in this thread and comment on it if you can!
  • @worldofdrakan you can create a teen-only household now you couldn't originally
  • there's a Bienchen mod that corrects the family structure but it's not getting updated until the end of december.
  • This was annoying me quite a lot.

The other day I went to Manage Households and removed any households that had more than one of the same last name, just in an attempt to add a bit of variety to the name pool.

I cannot believe how many of them had not just the same last name, but first name as well!
I even ran into duplicates, like two "Tetsu Yamaguchi", two "Akito Okada", THREE "Oumaima El Khouri" and so on.
There were so many Yamamoto households, and almost as many Gupta, Sakamoto, and Nakamuras.

And checking back today, the game has already started generating duplicate names.
And like others have mentioned, they seem to favor City Living and Vampire outfits, hairs, and accessories.
Why are these names so weighted when it comes to townie generation?
