A stylist is fine but what they want is more of a designer and model.
A model could be fun with random opportunities for photoshoots and runway shows but a designer I feel would benefit most if we had the color wheel and if they ended up dedicating about half of the packs cas to the career where you'd have to unlock them by making designs. I guess by that stand point I'd prefer it to be in it's own pack as I doubt the sims team would be able to fit both a fully active acting career with a large amount of cas set for costumes and then a designer career with a large set of cas set for unlocking through designing.
Edit: Well plum it because I talked about fashion design I started thinking about how I'd like to see it implemented. I'd like sims to get a sketchbook/pad (the one from the stylist career could work) where your sims draws up a design and once done they go to their sewing machine and start bringing it to existance. Once finished the creation is white and if you wish to color it you can use the new dying station where your sim has to go out and collect certain ingredients (collectables) to make different dyes to color their designs. Designs can be sold by clicking directly on your display or you can sell your designs out in the world with the portable boutique stand. Designs would include everything cas related excluding hairs, make-up and tattoos and for the most part everything cas related would be exclusively locked behind designing and dying but once unlocked your sim/household has access to it. Designs would be also locked behind skill level and some require your sim to be in certain moods. The value of your finished design would be dependent on skill level, mood of creation, and dye color.
If you have gtw you would be able to open up your own boutique and you could use the mannequins from gtw or sell your work or sell them from their displays themselves (the latter would be worth more).
Edit II: There would be 3 stations. The sewing machine, an accessory maker station and a shoe maker station. Overall though how I'd like to see designing be done would require it to potentially be in it's own pack.
Sounds like time for an Ideas post! I think a pack like this would be
way more fleshed out in new systems and new animations than would be possible if it were in this pack on top of what's already here. And it could be by far the best fashion handling in Sims
ever. Especially if we could also have a modelling skill and actually walk the runway.
Concepts like this are why I'd rather have fewer careers etc. in each pack. I want them expansive and full of new animations and activities etc. If all I want is a career called "model" I can make my own boring rabbithole one.
