Turning Sims Into Mermaids?

My Female just aged to young adult and married a merman. I've heard Mermaids can turn sims into mermaids. How do I get my merman to turn his wife into a mermaid? 😊 I have not yet seen the option for him to do it nor for her to ask.

Side queation: Astrid found 10 pieces of kelp in the cave. I've kept them in her inventory trying to decide whether to turn her or not.

I've noticed she must have eaten some when really hungry (8 left now) but hasn't turned and she swims most of the day every day ( marine biologist).

If the sims eats it "off screen" by their own, is the magic not triggering I wonder?

It's more likely that she is losing the kelp to the inventory bug connected to the conservation career. Whenever my conservationist surveyed or analyzed, she lost stuff from her inventory. Sometimes just 1 item, sometimes a bunch. Others have reported the same bug.

Once my sim reached level 10, I had her quit. I then replaced some of the things she lost to that bug, including her career canoe and aqua zip. I won't be allowing anymore of my sims to be doing that career until that bug gets fixed. The career fits some of my sims so I do hope they can fix it sooner rather then later.

I thought that was just how Vampires did it.

To turn a Sim into a Mermaid you have to eat a special item called "Mermadic Kelp".
This gives a 24 hour Energized moodlet and if that Sim enters the ocean during that time they become a mermaid.

The easiest way to get the special kelp is through the Aspiration Reward Store, it costs 500 reward points, so it's pretty easy to get that way.

Just beware eating two Mermadic Kelps at once. The first will give you the Energized moodlet like normal, but if you eat another one while that moodlet's still there, that's what turns a Mermaid back to a normal Sim.

Haven't noticed that bug. But I only analyze samples occasionally.

Thank You. I had her eat the kelp but she didn't turn into a mermaid. Obviously I hadn't YET read YOUR response. I just had her eat another and hovered over the moodlet and noticed it said she had an overwhelming urge to jump into a large body of water so I had her swim in the Lagoon and sure enough after a few sim minutes she had a beautiful white tail!! ?
