One has to make the decision which branch (chef or mixologist) of the culinary career you wish to focus on BEFORE maxing out in either branch... Once you've maxed out in the chef branch, you can't return to pursue the mixologist branch to fulfill the Master Mixologist aspiration to achieve the Potion Master skill trait.
I maxed out the chef branch and tried quitting to find that I could only return to the profession beyond the point were I could pursue mixology. I tried going to the wishing well to wish for a promotion without making any donation, hoping that I could be demoted back to a previous point, but it hasn't worked out yet.
