There's a bug where having maid services causes the game to speed up if one sim is off lot and another sim is on lot. this may be related to that.
Yes I just hired a maid actually... Thanks so much I'll cancel the service and see if it stops.
You have to cancel/fire them while they're on the lot. Which is a pain with the game trying to speed up.
