That would be an issue because unless you have fired the old butler and hired a new one just prior to your sim hitting the gym. That butler should have returned to resume their duties as butler when your sim returned home. My butlers have always returned and resume their job as butler when ever my sims returned home. But once in a while, I'll get stuck with a lazy butler. But even those return when my sims get home. And I never get stuck with a butler that I didn't hire. Try clearing your localthumbcache, and then do a repair game. And see if that doesn't help clear up your new butler issue. You can find your localthumbcache under EA/Sims 4 document in your document file folder.
