I think they did it because people were complaining that "VAMPS ARE DRINKING ON MY SIMS I DON'T WANT SUPERNATURAL WAAHHH" and the gurus were sick of it. Seriously, you bought a pack called "Vampires," what did you think was gonna happen?
I can understand the concerns to a point. You go out to do something nice with one of your important female sims and the next thing you'll realise is that thing you like doing during the day is no longer possible because one of those vampires turned them and the aversion to sunlight makes it all but impossible. So then that sims toddler children are wondering where mommy is and the same with the stay-at-home husband, and when she does arrive, she is.. changed. a few days later and suddenly the entire household are vampires because the mother is going crazy looking to sink her teeth into something for a drink, and also because she wants her family with her.
It can be seen as disruptive and unwanted when it wasn't called for to begin with. It isn't so much having the pack as how it can destroy someones enjoyment playing their game their way.

I used to have vampires occasionally break in and feed on my sims but not for a long time. I feel like they maybe nerfed it or something. Now all they ever do is hang around outside your sims door waiting for an invite like a puppy. It's rather sad really.
Yep, I'm extremely disappointed that they don't break in any more. The only one that feeds now is Vlad shortly after his introduction and then no more. I was hoping they would make it so vampires break in and turn my played sim during some random encounters, but it seems they've decided to just stop the interactions completely. So, aside from some of the design elements the vampire pack is pretty much pointless to own now.
I was considering getting this pack, i was on the verge of getting it today, but i've put the brakes on that and parked it for now. If the interactions have completely been made irrelivent then there is little point in getting it. I'd like to see vampires break in occasionally, drink or convert occasionally, they can still do their thing without being such a disruptive element to gameplay. It still gives your sim the chance of a random encounter, but not at the same rate as before.
