Agreed... Since you can change aspirations at any time without loosing progress, the bonus trait is my primary focus. For that reason, I will usually pick popularity or knowledge.
I used to focus on wealth aspirations, but now that most of the families in my game are really well established economically, lately I've been picking popularity most of the time. Since I don't have to worry as much about financial stability given generations of cumulative wealth (plus with the bills being so much lower now!), I'm really enjoying making developing their relationships more of a priority in my game play.
