What the....lol. I'm so confused by these rich storylines involving this family. Is this stuff everyone is making up for their saves? Or is this actually happening, things the sims are doing on their own? And how do you know if the sims oppose things or support them? How do people know what their sims are thinking and what minute details are driving their actions? Tbh I have seen stuff like this in other threads about other sims, and I have NO idea how this stuff is happening for people. Also the home birth thing I saw in one thread - I've had my sims have their babies at home but it was nothing like that! They just stand in front of a bassinet with their hands on their stomachs. Help me understand. "Teach me to be more like you." I'm truly, truly curious and baffled.
Honestly, the game only works for me if I use my imagination. I needed the Landgraab lot for something else. So they had to go. I gave them a reason to go.
According to the game, Nancy is a minor criminal. Jack is a bigger, smarter criminal. It's not hard to imagine that Nancy wanted to make a name for herself by taking down a bigger criminal. It's not hard to imagine that Jack outwitted her. I needed the Landgraabs to lose their house and most of their money. It isn't hard to create a situation where they couldn't pay the bills if they stayed where they were. It isn't hard to have Jack buy the Landgraab's Oasis Spring lot. I imagine he did it just to spite Nancy, because I think Jack is cold and hard. It isn't hard to make some bad interactions happen between sims, you just have your sim make some bad decisions. And if you like, you take your screenshots and make up your story.
Johnny wants to be a comedian. He got tossed out by the Landgraabs for that. That's in the game. I just made him advance in his career and moved him to Del Sol because that's where he would logically be. I moved the Landgraabs in next door. I think that it helps to make a good story because it creates some tension.
I think that Johnny hates his mom because I imagine she was the one who forced him out. I imagine that Nancy is the type of sim who doesn't like growing old. I imagine Johnny knows this and takes every opportunity to hurt her, because she hurt him first. I think this helps to create a good story. He's a little vindictive. Maybe he will become a villain because he can't forgive. Maybe he won't be able to form relationships, or maybe someone will rescue him from his life of pain. I don't know yet. But I have options now.
It's a little like writing a comic book. Sometimes you know what you want to say, so you engineer a situation that will give you the screenshot you want. Sometimes you have a great screenshot, so you write something that fits it. You can make it whatever you want it to be. Sometimes, you don't even need screenshots, you just imagine it. It's a bit like being 4 years old again.
