I wonder what EA will think of next after those new packs? Next they'll tell us they'll bring back pool tables and pinball machines.
They should hurry up and give us the pool tables. :D - Throw a bone to those who want consequences, real risk, real competition, surprises, and not to have to force or mod in everything that wouldn't happen on Barney The Dinosaur.
- ADashofAsh90Seasoned VanguardI'm hoping for horses, farming, winter activities, maybe something traveling to past or future, new base features/fixes and things we haven't thought of yet.

- The future of the Sims franchise in general is pretty bleak.
Knowing EA, you can expect the Sims 4 to go on for a couple more years with mixed levels of success and failure, then the release of a subscription based, always online, micro transaction laden dumpster fire that will most likely be the Sims 5 or simply the "Sims Online" part 2. If you think the Sims 4 is expensive, just you wait for the next iteration. You'll probably be paying real money for a couple chairs!
I think unfortunately subscription based is the next natural progression of this series. They're probably tired of listening to people complain about the prices of DLC, so why have any? Now you can pay for everything in game!
This is the trend of AAA games, from Bethesda to Ubisoft. And EA knows people will buy it, because EA knows how to make money.
I wouldn't bother holding your breath for this series, look at Paralives, which is very early development but holds some promise.
I think Rod Humble's project at Paradox is the most important thing to look out for. Paradox is the perfect company to make a Sims like game in my opinion. - Count me in with the previous posters who mentioned Paralives and Paradox. I’m already a Patreon patron of Paralives, and I will happily drop full game money on preorder from what I’ve seen so far. Some of my favorite games these days are from small indie developers who only have one or two titles, and I’m happy to support Alex Masse. Paradox makes one of my favorite games, Crusader Kings, which I probably play far more than I do Sims 4. Especially with Rod Humble who was at the helm for my favorite iteration of the Sims. Needless to say, I’m very excited. I hope one (or both) of these studios can give me what I really want in a game-some more maturity and consequences and actual gameplay that I don’t have to imagine or force every time. I want a GAME, where things happen in response to my action or inaction, not a digital photo/video creator like the Sims is becoming these days. Then Sims can stay the safe space/storytelling only/online thing it’s trying to be.
- I've lost hope on the future of The Sims. Sad but true. Eco Living is an example.
I love The Sims, but I have more faith in the Paralives at this point. "bixters;c-17499289" wrote:

Part 5. Sims Social, Sims Mobile, and Sims Freeplay I didn't enjoy.

Yeah I heard about Rod Humble's project too. City Skylines and Planet Zoo have been such successful games to take on monopoly simulation games.- AedanStarfangNew SpectatorI think the future for traditional gaming as a whole looks pretty bleak honestly. This whole "games as a service" trend that all of the major AAA companies have adapted will mean more streamlining of features and content, and replaced with micro or macrotransactions with content which should have been in the base game, no doubt all for an exorbitant price. And this is not just EA/Maxis, Bethesda already got a head start on streamlining their beloved titles, monetizing mods, and alienating longtime players. Of course there will still be people who cling to the carcass of said franchise, continue to pay "X" amounts of dollars for each new pack, all while complaining how terrible the game is and how the Sims 4 was better, and will continue to cling on in hopes that the Sims 6 will be an improvement over the Sims 5.
- With the way things have been with sims 4 for the past 6 years, I no longer have high expectations for the franchise. Not even the idea of sims 5 gets me excited, people assume that the next game is going to somehow be better ,fix everything, and give them what they wanted. I would like to think sims 5 will be sims game everyone wants but there's no telling. If you see you still have to buy the same expansion packs again such as pets, seasons, university etc. Then there's no reason to believe things will be better or changed. But we'll just have to wait and see.
