I use them pretty frequently, both in my spas and in certain homes. They are nice decor, in the right setting, even if you never light them. If you do light them, the moodlets aren't too overpowering IMO, just a little temporary boost.
However, they are a bit of a fire risk. I wouldn't say they catch on fire all the time, but for me it has been more often than the fireplace. However, I've only ever had a fire start if I leave the room with it still burning, and they don't burn that long. So usually I only burn them if I'm going to be in the room for a while: in the bathroom during a long bath, while cooking dinner in the kitchen, while in the office working on a novel, while doing yoga in the same room, etc. Then I just make sure it's out before I leave (much like I do with the fireplace).
