What expansion packs would you say are "necessary"?

I definitely agree with Seasons, that's my #1 that I wanted very much, followed closely by Cats & Dogs. For me it's the packs that add realism to my game, but I know there are a ton of supernatural players that will tell you the most necessary are the packs that introduce occults and things that are NOT realistic :wink:

I also think the implementation of the clubs system has really added to this game and that alone is somewhat necessary in my opinion, but not as much as Seasons :)

Necessary for my own game, definitely Seasons and Cats & Dogs.

I'd say Seasons, but I would not have enjoyed my game as much without City Living and Get Together.

Limiting this to only expansions, my choices would be Seasons and Cats and Dogs, in that order. I require both weather and pups to complete my Sims experience.

Personally, Seasons is the only one I wouldn't play without. I guess Cats and Dogs could be thrown in there - but only because I use Brindleton Bay so much.

Parenthood + Seasons + Get Together = a richer, more vibrant game

Seasons. I stopped playing until Seasons came out. Knitting was more fun. KNITTING.

(but for real, knitting can be really fun, this game is just more fun - but only with seasons)

City Living and Get Together still give me the most gameplay-wise, and I couldn't play without them.


Seasons and Cats&Dogs are nice but mostly I'd be playing, realize it's raining, think "that's neat", and go back to what I was doing. Same with seeing a random stray cat (and I had to mod for that to happen in other worlds, otherwise I would forget that's even a thing).

I thought the calendar would make me play differently, but I don't really care what family I'm in when an holiday roll out now. Early days I would plan which family to play for which part of the year but it got too much. I'd rather play who I want when I feel like it.

I know I don't use the calendar to the fullest yet. And playing rotationally does not give me time to let seasons change be meaningful. So these two packs don't really bring that much to my gameplay (and mine only, I'm not speaking in general).


Get To Work and Get Famous, while I love them, are situational at best.

I love city living as well, probably my second favorite pack after Seasons. I find that I spend most of my time in San Myshuno.
