While I do play with both male and female sims, I tend to gravitate toward my male sims the most. Some of my favorite sims I've ever had have been males.
Sure, female sims are more fun to dress up but they don't inspire me storywise nearly as much. I think because I'm a woman, that I (unintentionally) put myself into my female sims and I never do anything exciting with them, but I have so much freedom with male sims. I really push myself creatively with my male sims, and I find them so fun to play.
