It’s pretty much a staple now that I always start a Sims game with 1 male sim. My favorites too tend to be males. I guess it's because of my overall playstyle. I almost always prefer to play as males in various RPG games because for some reason I just roleplay them better. I guess I more efficiently "distance" them from myself so that I'm then able to create actually exciting, well-developed characters who I easily feel immersed with. Female characters tend more easily gain "self-insert" qualities which then kind of made their characterization be all over the place or just less interesting.
I semi-roleplay in the Sims series as well and, again, it just seems to come more naturally with male characters. Like, now that I think of it, the 2 very first sims I created for TS4 kind of repeated the pattern. With Axel I had this clear vision and am having really fun playing him while Abigail kind of… exists.
@NightlyCoffee This statement resonates with me SO heavily.

Sure, female sims are more fun to dress up but they don't inspire me storywise nearly as much. I think because I'm a woman, that I (unintentionally) put myself into my female sims and I never do anything exciting with them, but I have so much freedom with male sims. I really push myself creatively with my male sims, and I find them so fun to play.
