What happens to FREE WILL OFF?

I normally play with free will ON, but when making videos or focusing on a particular task, I might turn Free Will OFF. However, recently there seem to be added more and more automatic activities that are performed by the active household sims even when Free Will is turn OFF. I mean, having no free will should mean not doing anything by free will, right?

From years back sims would decide to switch chairs or to get seated during a conversation even if free will was off. There were also a few interactions like watching a toddler etc. Although these actions should not happen when Free Will is off, I could live with that because it was kinda limited. But lately there are more and more actions added with each patch/pack. Especially with ECO Lifestyle - why on earth are my active household sim doing all those NAP actions (even the legit NAP actions) if I told the game to have NO Free Will? With Free Will OFF the sims of the played household should not start ANY activity unless it was directed by the simmer.

EA, please let us keep the possibility to turn OFF Free Will. And let it mean what the label says - NO Free Will.

  • I don't know if this is a bug or a feature, but simvasion's "NAP autonomy fixes" mod stops this behavior.

As an autonomy off player I've given up on EA and make use of SCAM and MC Tuner now to take autonomy off intrusive actions. The devs may think something is endearing (scolding toddlers that throw food in the highchair - I cannot use the highchair for this reason, because it breaks some parents' character) or realistic (watching your toddler while they play in the ocean), when in my playstyle it is just annoying.

I do use the NAP civic-something mod. But there are still actions initiated by my sims (not NAP related) when they are off-Free will. I suspect EA did not plan to make Free-will-off stop our active sims from doing *relevant* NAP actions. The current problem is that they do NAP stuff from any hood in the game, and that the actions win over other simmer directed actions. But NAPs aside, there are still way too much activity going on even when my sims are OFF free will.
