What if "Happy" was changed to "Content"?

I may be alone in this idea here, but am I the only one who kind of doesn't like how even though TS4 introduced a mood system, your sims are always just as happy and bubbly as they usually were in the previous games, if not more often than usual? Something I've kind of thought about for a while, aside from a whole overhaul of the system, is if the Happy and Very Happy emotions were changed to Content = Happy, and Happy = Very Happy.

A lot of basic need filling in the Sims series will make your sims overwhelming jump for joy when really... you're just stopping them from not dying. It'd make a lot more sense to delegate 'happy' to be a response to much less mundane things, in my opinion. I've had a few sims with the "Cheery" trait and there's literally no difference between how many times they're happy compared to sims without it, it's a little insane to me. Anybody else kind of share this sentiment?

    I don't really care about the naming but I do think "fine" should be the default and a more common emotion than "happy". Perhaps a sim needs a +8 buff of happy moodlets to actually feel happy?

    I would also prefer this. I like my sims to be happy, but it really is too much too often I feel.

    roBurky has mods that do exactly that, like Emotional Inertia, Uncomfortable Overhaul, Variable Emotional Traits, True Happiness.
    I play with the first 3 (because True Happiness doesn't like the game in french) and TS4 is actually fun to play now.
    Add in a mod to remove happiness from decor (roBurky also has that, though it's not the one I use) and you're set.

    I think all of these are to be combined into a super mod in the near future too.

    (This sounds like a promo but I don't know them, I just really appreaciate their mods)

    I was using the True Happiness mod -- I'll probably add it back in after I know it's been updated (I've cut all script mods except for MCCC and UI Cheats Extension). Might look into the others as well;
  • I think content as the default would be a lot better. Being in a good mood doesn't necessarily mean I'm happy, but I'm not really anything else either. Very happy could become happy, which sims would be feel when they're doing well at school/work, or maybe when they eat a meal of a higher quality or even if they have multiple good interactions with another sim.
