What is some dark humor you like in the game?

I'm normally not a fan of dark humor, but I have to admit, some of it in this game is pretty hilarious.

For one, most of the deaths are so cartoonish that it's hard for me to feel sad about them, especially as one who doesn't get super attached to most of my Sims. The only time I'm really shaken by a death is if I was close to completing an aspiration I've never done, or if it were to cause me to fail a challenge.

One of my favorite deaths is Death by Cardiac Explosion. I especially love it when they yell, "Neeb, neeb, neeb!" Their stomping in outrage is pretty funny, too. Death by Hysteria is great, too; they don't even seem to realize they're dying. I also like the Death by Starvation, the way they comically point at their mouth, which is something real-life victims of starvation would never do, so this comes across more as, "Come on, feed me! Aw, darn."

In addition to deaths, the Grim Reaper and the answers he can give you when you ask him certain things are pretty funny. Apparently he considers himself to be one of "the forces of evil." And he has no time for a romantic relationship, even though you can flirt with him.

Most of the ways Sims get over their sadness is pretty sad, but I love the "Water with Tears" interaction you can perform on plants. The entire idea is hilarious.

Normally, I don't like to be mean to toddlers, but the fact that Hates Children Sims can "Crush Dreams" kills me. That's so funny.

Finally, I love that Toddlers, Children, and Childish Sims will be Sad if the dollhouse is wrecked--*even if they're the ones who wrecked it*. It reminds me of in the Sims 2 when someone would insult somebody else, then cry after they got insulted back! You brought this on yourself! What did you expect to happen?

I might add more as I think of them. What about you guys? What's some dark humor in The Sims 4 that cracks you up?

I haven't seen all the deaths in Sims 4 either. the Murphy Bed death is a bit of a shock - boom! and they're gone. I try to remember to save just before lowering it, but those silly sims, sometimes they get past my notice.

I killed a sim by drowning not long ago. He was full of energy so it took him all day (I'll keep that in mind for next time, that was a bit cruel). He kept yelling and waving his hands for help. The sim I was playing autonomously walked over and stood by the wall I'd built around the pool. They had a conversation thru the wall; he wasn't yelling or anything, they just chatted. That was crazy funny to me. Once she walked off he started yelling again. this happened twice. Once he was gone she wasn't interested in his urn much either, but his father kept walking across the lot to cry at it.
  • The ones you pointed out sound pretty funny. I like the stuff surrounding the grim reaper in all the games. He usually has some pretty interesting text and interactions. Also, I like the cow plant.

Most of my favorites are from past games. They had some really cool and intricate world set ups from the lots down to the Sims. Bios, memories, and relationships. Strange town springs to mind. I was also reminded of the cow cult from a couple spin offs recently.

In particular I miss the social bunny. There was a therapist/psychologist when you lost your sanity in 2 that was interesting. A lot of flavor was cut out after 2 in that respect. I suppose we got the sad clown back. Oh, how rude the other Sims sometimes were when you tried to talk to them. They remind me of OG Animal Crossing versus Animal Crossing now.
  • Olive Spector's family names and all their puns. The concept of the alien abduction + pregnancy is also pretty dark if you ~really~ think about it, ignoring the absurdity of mpreg (using human biology as the sims' for a basis).
  • For a while there was a cult leader in the game and I was surprised how easily I could make the cult but after a while I thought it was too much and expelled them all. I only left the wife who got away and her daughter that she took with her. The wife remarried a nice person and the daughter grew up well but doesn't know who her father was.

I have had a few evil sims or ones from the rougher end of life who have gotten into trouble. There have been some affairs. It's not to be a soap opera but just to have some variety in what happens. Not everything is happy all the time but I also kind of act as a judge because I'll change things if I want to.

For example, one of the plotlines I had is that I made one of the criminals in the jail playable and added a sister for her in CAS. The sister married a cop coincidentally. So, one sister was Ms. Perfect and the other one was a freewheeling criminal. The bad sister made her money in the criminal career and through shady business. At one point, the "bad" sister had a child with a wealthy married sim to extort money from him. I, as the court system, intervened and the "good" sister adopted the kid because the other sister was not in a place to raise him. The kid grew up happily and sees his aunt as his mother. He is still interested in his biological mom but is more attached to his adoptive mom. The "bad" sister later fell in love and gave up crime. She has more children now and she can raise those. It's just an example. Anyone else can play how they want, I tend to intervene for anything really wild but yes, some stuff happens.

I don't play with the alien abduction stuff. I get the issue and also that people want supernaturals.

I've definitely had some darker stories but honestly not all of them would end up on here. Mainly it's just that not all houses are the exact same.

I'm just adding that the freewheeling criminal was pretty funny and definitely in the dark humor category. No, I have no interest in being one, it was just a character.

The death by laughter (Hysterical) is actually kind of funny in a dark morbid way. :D
I try to calm my Sims down now when they reach "Hysterical". Caught me be surprise the first time.
  • On the subject of Sims 2, it was always super weird to me that Pollination Tech 9 Smith abducted & knocked up Jenny's father Glarn Curious (creating Lola and Chloe) and then proceeded to marry Glarn's other daughter years later and have kids with her. It's never brought up as an issue or addressed. Even if they aren't biologically related, it's still crossing some funky family boundaries.

I think my favorite death in Sims 4 is probably the Rabid Rodent fever. My only reason to get that stuff pack would be for that death. It's hilarious. Also it's nice to have some illnesses with consequences!

Usually anything to do with vampires can be very dark, and very funny. I had a mean vamp who would go to bars, cast the hallucination spell on a sim then laugh when he would talk to himself. We had fun! >:)
  • The fact that you can die from overexertion as an elder... I don't believe previous games have had that. Makes it challenging for those who still want to get "jiggy with it" in their elder years haha

I remember when I first started playing the game and I couldn't figure out why my teen sim was dying from laughter. Like I would quit and go back and she'd die again lol Now with parenthood teens can no longer die emotionally I believe, but man it was dark lol

Oh how I loved that therapist. I could have done with him dropping in on me irl when I have lost my sanity on occasions ? if only rl fixes were so fast.

Apparently it has been scientifically proven that people who appreciate dark humour are smarter than the average nooboo.
  • I had my sim locked up with only Patchy the Scarecrow to keep her company. They fell in love and barely escaped to Salvadorada. Where they died together on their long journey home.
