I've been building since the game first came out because my son purchased it for me... some thing I've built took a very long time... I've never cared if someone downloads it or re-uploads it as their own... big deal... I shared it because.. I wanted others to use it... it makes me feel good to know someone likes my stuff... BUT... I absolutely cannot stand is... when my things are mysteriously 'unshared' and I lose all those favorites and download numbers because when I re-upload it I lose all that... BUT what makes me even more upset is when... it's mysteriously removed as a shared item... then shows up like someone else did it... then maxis comes along and 'likes' that one... while mine looks as tho I copied from them... if that makes any sense... otherwise... go ahead and take my things... if I cared then I never would have shared.
This happened to me the first sim I made but I made it with the demo and there were not a lot of options in the demo. I saw a sim which looked just like mine in the features area. I thought oh someone really likes it. Then I noticed another name on it. I just thought well good for them they have the same tastes as me, basically, I dont care about that, what I find offensive is that I am getting linked with as @MadameLee above that one of the people from this group that uses this hashtag said there are still trolls out there. I am not a thief nor am I a troll. It is the name calling and the use of stop stealing that is my problem. Maybe that is not yours, but then mine is not any form of recognition, where we differ on those things. I think the hashtag should be removed.
The thing is because you change stuff and give credit to others-that means like everyone else have said..they aren't lumping YOU, into the troll category which you keep mistakenly believing they ARE lumping you in.
Their are 3-4 categories of simmers-Creators->who actually want credit if a lot or sim hasn't been tweaked and is reuploaded by someone else who is basically a troll
->People who need to upload to the library to have back-ups of the work.
->Then there are people who change and re-upload the creation after tweaking it to their liking and leave the ""original by" line and give credit in the description-for instance you and I. I give credit when using others' sims or builds.
->trolls for instant who deliberately do 0 changes to someone else's creation and then somehow put their OWN name on the creation and not a stich of information about the actually original creditor.
So as far as that tells me..you aren't being called a thief or a troll..you give credit-trolls don't and intentionally change the name, hence you aren't a troll or a thief."jimmysnan;c-16262490" wrote:"maryjane2joe;c-16262229" wrote:
...ps... out of respect tho.. people should say... original by "name"
It is already on there by the game. It is automatically on there.
But some trolls have been able to get around that..don't know how..but they been able too
Then a broad statement should not be made. They should be stating that they would like to have credit for their creation not "Stop stealing"
and by someone intentionally taking' another work and somehow changing the name of it to theirs (trolls-like the one I edited out) and not saying a peep about the original creator) is like Raphael taking Da Vinci's Mona Lisa and giving it away claiming HE was the one who painted the picture Wouldn't that be stealing or plagiarising? Or let's say a writer is writing a story and a co-worker or something takes the story at some point and claim that its THEIR work-without a mention of the actual person. (Don't we have a chance card in the Author career about plagiarising?).
Would it be better if they used a hashtag which was #don'tplagarized or #don'treupload?
