What would be so fun about Hotels?

Hotels can be so flexible and give so much space for creativity if done right. They could also integrate so well we the rest of the game.

Personally what I wanted to do with them was create all kinds of hotels. A cabin in the Snowy world, a resort in Sulani, a modern, expensive hotel in San Myshuno, a haunted hotel in forgotten hollow etc.
There are just so many option, you could play with a feature like that forever.

For me replayability. That's it, something that I can get creative :)

I would use it in my modded game to create a slasher hotel type of a scene where the guests would disappear mysteriously.

For me I couldn't care less about hotels, they had one in the star wars pack and it was crap. I only ever briefly played with the hotels in 3 and I didn't find them that interesting tbh.

I guess I can see them putting it as a game pack like dine out, that would make sense

@SilentKitty If you have outdoor retreat you can throw a tent in your Sim's inventory and basically squat on any public lot -- my Sim's have done that in Sulani on the beach before.

I don’t want to run a hotel in game myself much like my sims don’t run restaurants or retail shops now. But I do want the option of putting hotels in world like Sulani, San Myshuno, & Windenburg so I can have the gameplay of my Sims being able to visit these places for a weekend, overnight or longer. This new pack so far doesn’t seem to add a hotel system but it potentially offers rental lots in residential worlds, and I would even be happy with that if it’s something that’s available in all worlds once the pack is installed.

Same with running a retail store. Most want that improved so that it's more like TS2's Open for Business.

Ahh. I hated Sims 3 so I never played it past the base game. I didn't realize this was functionality from a previous sims game. Seems there is a strong divided between Sims 3 players and Sims 2 players in regards to their feelings on Sim's 4.

Yes, I think that those of us who loved Sims2, see (and I can only speak for myself here) Sims4 as the more logical progression. I did purchase and play Sims3, mind you, but I had a love/hate relationship with it almost the entire run. Once Showtime hit, my issues didn't go away, but I was so pleased to finally give my Sim, Erik Cantrell, a real chance at his life's dream. Becoming a Rock Star, that my daily struggle with how the game ran was moderately abated.

I loved hotels in ts2

not so much in ts3 cause i didnt like how some parts would be rabbit holey

i do somewhat agree that hotels are not such a big deal some people make it sound like at this point tho considering we do have quite a lot of gameplay for it

but even though i somewhat have my own "fake hotels" i'd still prefer real ones if only for better functionality

and i also like the idea of owning&running hotels cause idk it just feels like it would be nice twist like maybe there could even be some hotel drama i mean there is lots of shady series about hotels and death...

either way i wasn't really expecting or hoping for hotels in this pack after i saw it was already crossing over 2 other themes that in my opinion deserve tons of other gameplay.

especially worried it won't have enough japan themed gameplay due to the winter sports thing and whatever

since we are not likely to get many packs with east asia theme cause we never did get more than 1 in ts 2 and 3 (which is honestly just stupid)

The resort management in TS3 was very picky, and if a hotel feature was added to TS4 I would wish it to be more flexible.

While I do understand wanting features that add to gameplay, incorporated in the game through patches and packs; I think a lot of things being wished for can already be done in the game if the player puts some thought and imagination to the already existing mechanics. Having everything served on a plate would take a lot of entertainment away, and I don’t think EA should cater to those that do not explore the game properly to know how to make things work before they go to a forum yelling for more money grabbing, performance reducing additions.

There are hopefully more examples, but these are how I have done 'hotels':

A restaurant in Sulani, St. Taz Island, large and with a pier, and a nice bedroom upstairs, for any sim living in other worlds to sleep in while visiting. Run by my sibling couple totalitarian rulers, as a grim remark on who sells out first to ockupation and exotification. Sims can as a mechanic in game sleep wherever they want and do not need to go home for that.

An artist studio/communal place in Brindleton Bay by the beach, a residential for a lone sim to inhabit, being visited by my other artist sims; moving in, painting by the beach and having nice dinner parties picturing the Skagen painters lifestyle for awhile; then going home with lots of new paintings to exhibit in their home town art gallery. It is very easy to move sims between households.

Rental lot in Selvadorada, the Belomisia Field Station, in my rebuild a cheap hostel, where groups of sims can visit and live together for a short while, traversing the jungle and exploring the world as student and back-packers. Sims can take vacations together.

I very much look forward to the new features in Snowy Escape, being able to live in as well as temporary visit a new world.

Edit: I have yet to do something with this, but I see great potential in the lot assignment University Housing, and the limitations for organisations to be applied; in creating living situations similar to hostels, in different worlds. Sims will be spawned according to number of beds, and behave like youngsters away from home, and a maid will come clean.
