what's up with the hats?

Why are people showing up everywhere with weird hats on? A winter hat in the summer.during a heat wave looks so out of place. I go into a family to change the hat and in CAS it is not on the person.

Lately I have also seen some twonies ran around with winter hats in the middle of the summer...
    New bug? ;)
  • In general I think the generated outfits for festivals or winter are glitched since vampire stuff (this was when I noticed suddenly they all want an item in every single accessory slot)

Sadly this has been around forever now. I think since GT. Not a new bug at all. Townies get spawned in what are called "situational outfits" that you can't change because they are a hidden outfit category that doesn't show up in CAS. They are made for festivals, the weirdo sims in San Myshuno, some weather related outfits, and walk bys(i.e. sims that randomly "walk by" your sims house during the day). The outfits that the game generates usually make little to no sense to the actual situation they were spawned for, and include copious amounts of accessories, mismatched clothing, and any and all types of hats. I think they tried to fix it once but it never really worked.

I've even had sims that I created and placed in town without actually playing come around in completely different outfits than I assigned for them.

What's up with the awful outfits in general? Even at festivals I find them annoying. I tried searching for a mod to fix it but sadly I couldn't find anything. I know townies always dress a bit random but I see them often with no pants or silly costumes. That I don't like so much.

Did you check out Bienchens Mods? She has many different mods against wierd outfits. You need to scroll down a little bitt. The discription is also in English.

What program are you using? I use 7-zip. It's a free download.

@Anmirla I don't think I have anything to open the files. Usually they're just zip files and they open without me requiring anything extra.

@Sharonia Um, okay. How does your computer know where to place the files? I have always had to extract mine manually because downloads is not the file where you need to place them to be able to use them. It also helps me to organize my mods by allowing me to put them in the correct subfiles when they can be nested.

I usually just download files to a custom content folder that I made and then I just open the files one by one and copy them into the Sims 4 mods folder myself. I will definitely look into downloading something to open the weird file types though.

    Ahh, okay.
Yeah, I just right click on the file in downloads, mouse over 7-Zip, select Extract files..., then select where I want it.
Just be careful to place any script files within the Mods file itself instead of nesting them to make sure they work (if you do nest).
