What's wrong with locked doors?

Yes. I recently discovered this a few days ago the hard way. Before I would lock the doors to keep the vampires from sneaking into my sim's home, but my sim left and went to another lot. When my sim got back, the vampire was able to get in. It was at that time I discovered that the doors were unlocked.

Btw, I don't have IL, and did not install the latest patch either (the one with CAS stories)

Seeing now that in this house most doors are still locked. Seems like just a couple doors are unlocked.

Yeah “locked” doors are wonky in one of my rotations. I built a triplex and two of the three apartments had an added back door to get to the community pool. I locked all the doors to every specific sim, and they were still going in each other’s apartments. So I tried locking the two back doors to “everyone,” to see if the problem was with the amount of doors available. I finally removed the back doors of the two apartments and so far they have stopped entering each other’s apartments. I’m glad they aren’t attempting to enter each other’s apartment now but my build looks weird without the back doors.

I, too, am playing rotationally and am using the lock for a specific sim, which is working for me (only in my vampire household). I only know it is working because one of my vampires commanded another to clean the house and she couldn't/wouldn't get the last bowl that happened to be in the child's room that was locked to her and I locked it for the specific sim 2 rounds ago.

Do locked doors unlock while playing other lots??? If so, that is a big disappointment. Having to re-lock doors every time accessing a house will force me to keep a note on what doors shall be locked in which houses... phew... why doesn't my game simply remember those locks?

It's most likely a bug.

Right after I read this, I went into my game and had a weird experience. All of my played sims are in clubs according to class and gender, and I locked doors on a commercial lot to control which ones can come in, which means all of the NPCs are left standing around outside (which is totally fine with me). The NPCs couldn't get in as usual, however, there was this one new NPC who just walked right in. Not only that, but he went into an office that's locked to everyone except for one specific sim (who is in a club of 1). I was like...what the heck??

I don't know why he alone was able to "pick" the locks. I viewed him in CAS, and he wasn't an occult or anything special. It was so weird. I just deleted him.

This pretty much describes my experiences. There's suddenly one sim accessing that wasn't supposed to. I suspect that some of my household members still can't access, but I'm playing a residential lot, so there's not exactly hordes of sims roaming the house.

Might very well be a technical bug, like when game create new NPC the sim IDs gets a new rank or something, meaning their id no longer match what was set for a specific door.

I can live with this in a house where just one door need to be relocked every time I enter to play, but in this case (castle) there is a rather complex set up to make some household members / live-in servants access only some sections of the building. It's not fun to find the Cook in the Duchess' bedroom section, or when the Duke rushes into the kitchen to fry some eggs instead of waiting for the grand meal that is on its way...

Uhm... something uis seriously wrong... My teenager son just walked through a "ladies-only door to use he toilet. And yes, there are plenty other well functioning toilets on this lot.

Was it a maxis-made bathroom door or one you designated as ladies only with door locks?
