I try to guess what my sims would name their children. When I cannot decide (or do not want to think about names for long), I pass down an ancestor's name, like Samuela, granddaughter of Sam.
The Shepard Legacy founder's firstborn ended up "Caspar David", because his mother was an art lover and she was living in Brindleton Bay with a nice view of the beach. I figure she had Caspar David Friedrich's painting in mind when she decided on the name. Caspar in turn loved everything ocean and sailing. He wanted to name his children after the main characters of his favourite book series, Jack and Stephen. However, he got twin daughters, so he adjusted to using the names of the main characters' wifes, Sophie and Diana.
The Thornton and the Leroy family were close friends from grade school and all four are very down to earth persons that like things simple and cosy. So when Anne and Reese gave birth close to each other, they decided to go for matching names: Harry Leroy and Mary Thornton.
