Moving is one of the ways to make money for my sims, but I don't move often, mostly when I want to have a family in a new area. I put the things I want to take in their personal or family inventories - later selling off stuff after I move (this is where I get money). I redecorate with the personal stuff that defines the family and I'm not a clutter fan. I only take appliances if what I have is better quality than what's given in their new home. Once my inventories are full I evict the family before moving, making sure that if they own a store it gets sold first (and will rebuy later). Once they move the fun of redecorating starts. I actually love doing this but it is time-consuming. Then they explore their new hood.
