When a Sim Dies...

What do you do when your Sim dies?
I just earnt the Circle of Life achievement (which actually, doesn’t make sense because it wasn’t strictly speaking from birth), I’ve never taken my game this far before.

Poor Bob Pancakes has just been taken by the reaper. His daughter had no luck with her demand to spare his life.
Eliza and Addison are naturally devastated. Truth to tell, I’m a bit thrown myself.

So, what in Sim Nation do I do next?

  • I had many deaths in my game. Accualy one died yesterday, her husband died couple hours ago. I always keep graves on the lot so the ghosts could visit the family.
One of my sims died young ( and I have more young deaths), he left his young wife and kids. Wife moved on, it's what the family is thinking, but in reality she is living double life. Day time with new husband, night time dead husband :D
In other households dead relatives fix, clean, take care of pets, babies at night, it's convenient.

The cemetery is a cool idea! Whenever I play a legacy game, I will make sure to have 1 cemetery somewhere in the world. In one of my saved games, I have a family cemetery and there's mausoleum too, with an underground labyrinth..because one of the founder's children is a vampire. So, the place have at least 2 functions, which is to be the last resting place for the family & the venue for the family vampires gathering spot.. The only problem that I encounter is either to identify the place as a generic or a park.

I dl'd the Newcrest Cemetery from Eunagina from the gallery and it's marked as a museum, which on further thought makes sense. That means people still visit the lot, but are only there to view the area, in a way to 'reminisce' and remember the dead. Setting it as a park means that people will visit the lot to play in a cemetery, which is a bit morbid lol and generic lots don't get visited by townies.

Cool idea.. I never thought of setting it as a museum..I might change my cemetery lot setting now.. Thanks!
  • That makes a lot more sense @paradiseplanet to have it as a museum.

I decided to re-download the cemetery I have and set it as a museum in its original state (just needed to add an easel and a trash bin). In case anyone would like the cemetery I pictured before, it is by @Kaleidow and is called 'Hollow Cemetery'. It really is magnificent, you should see the lower floors!
  • My cemetery is completed. Find it in the gallery under my ID moppy14w.
Thanks for the advice about making it a museum.

It kinda stinks that we still cannot edit the terrain in this game. IRL, most cemeteries are on hills (for obvious reasons) and not on flat land...

I have big cemetery for family members in the largest lot in Magnolia Promenade. I do like the idea of making it more of a public place though, so as to get some other visitors there. I'll have a play with that idea today.

EDIT - well that was worth doing. I ended up making a couple of the mausoleums I have with museum bits and bobs within them and it makes them look way more interesting. I've changed it from a big park to a museum - Magnolia Promenade Memorial Gardens and Museum, and it's become quite the place to be.
I also planted some flowers beside my family grave stones so now can gain gardening skills when they visit. More of an excuse now to visit once a week.
    Great idea. Happy :)

Just had a look at your cemetery. Nice :)
Just about to have a play with mine to see what I can include to attract a few visitors.
