I bought the flowers seed pack but the Rose isn't one of the flowers in it. Are Roses just something you have to find by digging or experimenting with the equipment in the lab or does someone give you one as a gift. Oh, I just remembered there is a Romantic interaction. I'll just have the scientist's mate give her a rose that way and then she can perform experiments with it.

Oh good. They need to get out of their dark house for a while anyway so looking around the park will be a good diversion until they can afford to pay their electric bill.

Doing the interaction unfortunately wont help acquiring a rose. You'll have to go exploring the neighbourhoods to find a rose plant and collect it. If the rose is not ready you'll have to spend few days in the neighbourhood to be able to harvest it (unless your sim knows how to take cuttings).

You can find the rose in the Willow Creek public lots area and in the smallest Newcrest neighbourhood (the one with the smallest lots) - probably in more places in those two worlds, but these are the ones that I know of.

Check around by the park area in the neighborhood where Bob Pancakes lives.

If you're in Newcrest, a rose bush is on the left side of the Fern Park lot.

I actually found rose bushes in various neighborhood along the paths near houses and house lots in the neighborhoods. Check out garden boxes as well as you look around -
