…Shiva suddenly felt so powerfully drawn to Guthrie that he finally decided that screw it, this was it. This was right. It felt right, and so it must be.

He dropped his knee and Guthrie’s hand went to her mouth in shock. Shiva grinned up at her.
“You probably know what’s coming, don’t you?”
Guthrie smiled nervously. “Your shoelace is untied?”
He fumbled in his pocket and pulled out a ring. Guthrie’s hand moved to her chest. “I know you’re young, and I know this might feel sudden but I… yeah, screw it, I’m not sappy enough to give you the speech. Will you just marry me?”
Her smile broadened – she was smiling so hard it felt as though her face had cracked open. “Well, who could say no to that?”
“So it’s a yes?” Shiva checked, just to be sure.
“Hmm,” Guthrie responded, pretending to think about it.
“This is not a very comfortable position, you know?” Shiva said, pouting jocularly.
“God, you’re a bad romantic.”
Shiva grinned. “I love you,” he offered.
“Alright then,” Guthrie answered, smiling from ear to ear. “I’ll marry you.”
“Oh come on, babe. Once more with feeling.”
“Yeah babe, with that mediocre proposal this is all you’re gonna get from me.”
“Come here, then.”

"So... here we are, huh? In the big, scary crater. Except that it isn't. And it's all thanks to us."
"Still looks kind of creepy to me," Maddie joked.
"It's ours, now, though. Our kind of creepy."
"Your kind of creepy."
Emil smirked. "Who's the military girl here?"
"Not me. Not anymore."
"You'll always be my military girl," Emil said, planting a kiss on her lips.
"So, military girl..." Emil started, as he went down on one knee.
Maddie's expression instantly turned into shock, her smile faltering to the suddenness of the moment. "Will you marry me?"
It didn't take all that long for Maddie's initial shock to fade - and turn into a feeling of perfect, exuberant happiness instead.
Her smile returned with full force. "Yes, prodigy boy... I'll marry you."

That morning, with Calder and Reyna standing in front of her tent, chatting casually, Reyna suddenly went down on her knee. At first, Calder thought she was just tying her shoelace - what else was he supposed to think? He sure as hell wasn't expecting *this.*
He sure as hell wasn't expecting her to reach into her pocket and take a ring out of it.
"Look," Reyna started. "I know this feels... well, incredibly sudden, and--and rushed, and... but being raised by two mothers who loved each other *so* much, I can't *not* believe that true love exists. I was lucky enough to have two parents so in love, and I watched them spend their lives together... I was also unfortunate enough to have two parents who weren't young anymore, and watching them, it made me realize... it made me realize just how much we must cherish the time we get to spend with our loved ones. It made me realize, as my mothers taught me, that if you love someone, to not waste any minute without them. To cherish every moment. To take as much of the time together as you can. So that's why I'm here, kneeling before you... to ask you to, let's please spend whatever time together that we can. To cherish our love, and the time that's been given to us."
"Well," Calder said, after he had taken a moment to process it all. "Who could say no to that?"
"Really?" Reyna sounded surprised - as if she hadn't expected him to say yes at all. "So it's a yes?"
"Darn right it is," Calder said - and he kissed her.

“Ti,” Romeo started. “I know we're young... way too young, actually, so don't take this too seriously...” He took a moment to look at the ring he was now offering her. “I mean, you might remember this ring from the Happy Meals I got us on the way here... Which, man, they really don't make Happy Meal toys like they used to, do they?”
Tehani shot him a look, and so he coughed forcibly and went on.
“Right. What I'm saying here, is... I love you. I really, really love you. Frankly, I never thought I could love someone so fully before I met you. I never believed in soulmates or one true loves or romantic comedies... until I met you. You... man, Ti, you made me believe..” his voice lowered into a whisper, “...in romantic comedies!” he breathed scandalously.
Ti rolled her eyes. Romeo smiled.
“No, what I'm saying is that I love you. I love you more than I have ever loved anything or anyone in my life—except maybe my mother, but, you know, can't go and compare familial love to a romantic one... I mean, I'm just wanting to put the statement out there that it's not like I *don't* love my mother... anyway. God, this is turning too messy even for my liking. I'll try again: I love you. I love you now, I'll love you tomorrow, and I feel like I can say with a certainty others might not believe in that I'll love you forever. And I want to be with you forever—forever meaning forever. And, you know, I figured, since we're out here now, and you're asking me if we're gonna be okay... I want you to know that we will be. We'll be more than okay; we'll get through this, have our fun little adventure, and after that we'll be living long and happy lives... and...” a blush had risen to his cheeks. His voice softened; he sounded almost shy. “I was hoping that we could do so together.”
“Romeo...” Tehani started. She couldn't even tell herself how she was feeling. “I'm just twenty years old..”
“And I'm just offering you a Happy Meal toy ring. We can scratch the rest.”
Finally, Tehani found the overpowering emotion; and it was happiness. “Or we don't.”
