Bars and generic lots are not in the drop down menu for available lots when you want to hold a grand ball.
CrispySims619 I like generic lots because they don't have requirements. If I could use them to host an event , I would.
MVWdeZTLounges are the lots I use the least in all the game. Somehow a ballroom and a lounge are two completely different places in my head but maybe that's just me. hiding stuff in the basement is a good idea. I could get rid of the microphone that way.
It might be because there are no pre-made generic lots in the world. Therefore none will appear until you change a lot to generic and build something there.

I added a generic lot to test this. I added a generic lot with dancefloor, bar, buffet table, music and toilets. The game didn't recognize it. I could use the playground lot right next to it with loads of slides and swings but obviously no dance floor. 😂
There is a fixed list with lots, only the lot types that appear while creating the event can be chosen. Generic lots and wedding venues are excluded. (screenshot is in Dutch but I listed the available lots in the first post)
