While adding to the Sims 4 lore, please allow us to create our own.

Please bring back neighborhood and sim biographies/descriptions.
Sims 2 had great ways to do that. I made a thread about it before here:

The preset neighborhoods, Pleasantview, Veronaville, and Strangetown also had their own neighborhood story book that told you more about the town and its residents. This was especially fun when you can make your own custom neighborhood and enter your own stories.

Giving us the opportunity to write our own biographies with new additions (no character limit, bold, italics etc, and being able to read or edit anyones in their sim bio) would be amazing.

Sims 2 used lore this way by adding content in npc bios. Grim Reapers, for example:

  • The sim profile area would be the perfect space to put this tool:

  • Putting the bio into the sim info panel is a great idea! Meet a vaguely familar sim that you know you had plans for, but cannot quite remember what exactly? Your active sim can just open their panel and you can read what you typed up for that other sim.

(On a sidenote I want to play Bayside Flats some day with my detective couple, but always postpone it.)
  • I don't do storytelling, but I could use the same bio for most of my Sims--"So and so is an awful person that wreaks havoc on the neighborhood and is hated by other Sims"
  • I did not use the bio much but liked it because it was an option made available to end users. Sims 4 was stripped of almost everything that was possible in the older versions.
  • I would absolutely love ways to make our own lore and id love to play around with this stuff again

but what i really wish we had is permanent memories because sentiments are just too short lived to really have any effect

(+id love to create custom memories so that if you already played something you could add it without having to replay because well at this point of game people have probably played their households... a lot and you wouldn't want everyone to have amnesia)
  • I haven't played the Sims 2, only the Sims 3 and Sims 4, but I agree. There are still some to be added to a sim's bio like zodiac signs and favorite bands. Though, it would make character creation a bit longer than normal. I'm already stumped which limiting three traits I would go for my sim, and now with preferences added, it's taking longer. Don't get me wrong, this is a great idea for storytellers like me, or at least me trying. But I don't know if they'll actually add a new feature that will come along this update we're anticipating. I heard it's just an overhaul with no new added mechanics. Just changing existing pre-made households, townies and NPCs, by (presumably) adding their likes and dislikes, some reward traits like the behavioral ones from Parenthood, or the Chopstick Savvy or Spice Hound from Snowy Escape and City Living. Lastly, they will be changing their appearances since, I read about this, that players are noticing sims becoming lighter and lighter in shade. And of course, the Hot and Cold Temperature outfits, finally. I was creating a save I will use as a master when creating anew, where I have given them the two new outfit categories from Seasons, preferences from Dream Home Decorator, and even fixing their relationships as well as family tree (poor Johnny Zest, literally disowned, that the Landgraab can't be found in his family tree).

I am going to tell stories anyway. Noting things down in a box on a sim's profile might help... or it might hinder, as I get to know that sim better, and decide "oh, now I see - no, this sim is going to be about this now." Of course, given that box, I could always edit that. I am not sure I need the tool. I don't necessarily object to it, but there are improvements and additions I'd like to see sooner.

Yeah the bios just help me keep track of all my stories because I play rotationally. Especially when i have backstories for even townies ?
  • If you're playing the premades, I see no reason why you can't continue on with your own storyline, despite what the storyline the devs give. I see this more as something for the ones who keep asking about it. Don't ever let it infringe on your own imagination.
  • @GalacticGal My thoughts exactly. I look forward to seeing what stories the premades will end up having, but it likely won’t change my own ideas for what these characters are like and their backgrounds. I’ll still ‘tell the story’ as I see fit regardless.

In the map view when you start the game or go to manage worlds there’s a box in the lower left corner of the screen once you select a household where you can choose which household member to play, in the far left corner is a button with a hose icon with the letter ‘i’ in the house. That opens a box where you can add your own lore for any household in the game.

Not my screen grab, I got it off Google images

It would be great to have a similar box in each sim’s profile though to add their individual story too.
