Pretty sure Sims have turned the stove off if they've left it since Sims 2.
You'd just get a low quality meal.
Nope....I had lots of kitchen fires in both TS2 and TS3.
And to some others who have replied about fires being possible.......I guess you missed the part where the stove was turned off and then the Sim turned it back on when they returned to the stove.......making an accidental fire impossible.
I wouldn't worry about it. There are a few people here that live to contradict. It's the same handful of people over and over, no matter what the topic of the thread is. I suppose they have nothing going for them in their lives, so they have to be right on the internet to feel good about themselves. It's gotten so I see their avi and just skip over whatever they said, because whatever it was, it isn't worth my time.
I do remember having loads of kitchen fires in TS3, I made sure to only make cold meals until level 3 or so! I've tried to make fires in TS4, I'd heard you could get a good one and kill a Sim with the rocket. I've crashed it dozens of times, but I only get a message something like 'any crash you can walk away from...', but never get any sort of fire.
I've also never had a cowplant death in TS4. Not a single Sim has ever eaten the cake, unless I direct them to.
As to people complaining about deaths being too easy, the only complaint I remember was about Sims in the comedy career dying from laughing. That does seem excessive. I've seen loads of people sharing their unexpected deaths, but even though they said they were sad that the deaths happened, it didn't come across as complaining the death was too easy or unfair (except for the comedy one).
