I was excited; but everyone keeps bringing me down. I don't mind the snow as much as the some things that should be in it that aren't. One expansion year is already limited and should have more time to focus on them, so why omit some basic stuff? One thing for something I can understand, especially if it could be easily implemented in another pack (sunburn and tanning along would swimming in ocean could work for a beach world).
But no hail? No lounging in or by the pool? No allergies or picnics? All could be in the game somewhat and is the perfect time for it (even if they have to toggle hail or make it less 3D if it can still still affect sims like have then hurt, sore, or even bad hail storms could kill them). What good is a weather pack with lack of options and weathers? If we had to wait until later in the year as we usually do, I would be fine with that (especially if it is a big pack that most want). Instant gratification and all that is not good as look how it feels more rushed?
I want to be excited but is it hard when everyone and everything is such a downer. I still like some ideas and features overall so I will still want to get it. Maybe they should tell us more about what is actually in the game? I get they don't want to spoil it all yet with EA Play and the live streaming coming up; but showing some things that are new, improved or in the game might help get people more excited and less focused on the negatives.
I don't mind if it isn't like Sims 3 as I dislike that game and quit for a reason; I just want more things to do and some thing added in. The game gets boring when it is sort of lacking.
If you have Parenthood GP you can just pack everyone a bag lunch to take to the park. And there's always grilling. So lack of picnics doesn't bother me.
I gather with the multitasking system that lounge chairs are tricky to program -- I think we could see them (along with tanning/burning) in a beach vacation pack.
I'm also okay with no hailstorms -- lightning is enough for me, especially since we've got 3 weather related deaths in Seasons (lightning, overheating, and freezing). Hail deaths would be one death too many.
What I'm excited about is giving more usefulness for gardening: the actual Gardening career, flower arranging which gives a purpose to all those flowers my Sims have stuck in storage chests. And the return of beekeeping from Sims 3 Supernatural is also a great addition. More harvestables and recipes are also welcome -- I was going to download some custom harvestables but now I think I'll hold off till I see what plants we get.
I'm currently working on a family of Sims who are going to be moving to a farm in Windenburg, so this pack is perfect for that storyline.
