The family of my Global Superstar is throwing a birthday party for their eldest. Due to their second son's fame, however, it has become not only desirable, but necessary to keep the gates and all entrances to the house, including the greenhouse, locked. This is problematic when the kids wish to bring home other friends from school, or when they hold events.What would it take to add unlock for invited guests/friends?As it is I have to manually unlock the front gate, front door and the patio door where the party is to take place. Then I have to make sure his Stan doesn't sneak in, because that Sim is very hard to convince to leave again. :open_mouth: We won't talk about his pair of Obsessed Fans, since I have a mod that produces them. Paparazzi hang around out front, which is fine. I just don't want them inside the gates.Please, EA, and thank you, in advance.If you also like this idea, please post. I really only have one superstar in my game, and I don’t rotate to her very often, but even so I have definitely noticed this issue and have had the same thought! Even without the fame system, I believe adding this system would make things much better. It would also be useful in the dorms... for example, if you want your sim to keep the roommates out of the room, but invite someone over, particularly for romantic purposes.

@GalacticGal Maids are working fine again in my game. I don't have butlers, so don't know about that.Funny thing is, my game's "Maid" is a guy that looks like Danny DeVito, haha! I've been meaning to change that.

I have also had problems with invited guests, and would like to see this corrected. Specifically for invited guests, but I would also interested in hearing about other situations where locked doors should be suspended.

I used to have this issue in one save, but in my current one I don't. My Sim isn't a celeb but having random ppl drop by is annoying to me anyways, so I always lock my doors. In my current save, invited guests have no problem entering. THey wait a good minute on the door step but then they just walk in. I'm not sure what the difference between saves are. Both have no mods.

That's my point, exactly. These guests are also 'invited'. Don't feel alone, I too, have forgotten to unlock the gate to allow the friends (that I gave permission to come home with my Sims after school), just moments before. Must be going senile … to borrow a line from Admiral James T. Kirk.

I only have two game saves going at the moment. The Cantrell family and my Ancestral game save which is a rotation save. Currently, I'm playing every other day with the Cantrell's.

Can’t you unlock for specific sims though? I was sure it was an option. I use all the time in dorms when my sim invites friends over and want them to hang out in the bedroom that I lock for all the roommates.

No, you can unlock for for everyone, you can unlock for Paparazzi, you can unlock for the Butler. But I can find nowhere that allows me to unlock for invited guests. Not only that, but I did remember to unlock the front gate and two doors to let the guests come in, for once. But, I failed to follow everyone out again, to lock things back up. Now, the Stan and Erik's two Obsessed fans are roaming the yard. I'm going to have to have someone beat them up, I guess to get them to leave. I was trying to avoid that unpleasantness.

Try (Allow access...) a menu should pop up with the sims currently on the lot. It works on the doors, not sure about gates though.

I would love more customization when it comes to doors, especially since I don’t use mods.

My Sims have high reputations and their fame levels fluctuate sometimes, so occasionally one of the random sims they’ve spoken to will show up and say something like, “we’re still friends, right?” And successfully enter the house, despite it being locked. Drives me up the wall! LOL

There are more customizable lock options than there were in sims 2, but not that option. I'm not sure if "invited guest" is a category that is as easy to make the game recognize as household or staff is. But it would be nice if they could make it happen.

The game can recognize invited guest on the calendar. It would be nice, if there's a way, to even be able to click on the desired Sim to allow them in. Unlocking the outside gate can be treacherous.
