This game was always a PC only game, i mean, you had and you still have console versions but this game is not a console port, it is a PC game and as such it should be optimized for PC hardware, but even with this it runs like ass. I'm playing right now and the FPS is all over the place, it goes from 60 to 50 to 45 to 33 to 48 to 52, holy sh**! Why? I don't understand why it runs like this.My PC specs are:Ryzen 5 2600 (it's a six core CPU that goes to 3.8GHz)16GB RAM DDR4 2666MHzGTX 1060 6GBAnd the game is installed on a HDD Western Digital Caviar Black (7200RPM), one of the best HDDs of the market.Also i'm playing at 1366x768 which is a ridiculously less demanding resolution than 1080p.Also i'm not a middle-aged woman who only uses facebook, so i know my build, i know my PC and i have more than average knowledge about tech stuff related to PC gaming, i built my own PC. I'm using the x64 version of the game. So, does anyone know why this thing run so fu****** bad and what can i do to fix? All i want is steady 60fps.

It seems to me that the FPS drops happen when I’m on community lots where there is lots of Sims around and lots going on. On residential lots I get a steady frame rate.

It always runs super smooth for me except for when my PC decides download and update windows 10 during my play time. I have all the packs installed plus custom content and mods and I play with ultra settings. I don't even think my PC is as good as other players that I see experiencing issues. It's weird like something random is causing problems for some players.

Sometimes the default is set to 'high quality' in the game. If you sacrifice some quality or graphics it will run faster. It's found in the gameplay menu. I also found if I had a lot of gallery lots in my game it ran slower, so I ended up deleting my gallery lots out of the tray

Coming from sims 3 , for me sims 4 runs like a dream !

I don't know about different computers but I do know the game runs much smoother if you play "windowed fullscreen" instead of true "Fullscreen" if that helps anyone.

It always runs super smooth for me except for when my PC decides download and update windows 10 during my play time. Yeah, nothing much i can do, the game is just poorly optimized/coded and clearly Maxis doesn't give a damn about it. That's what happens when you don't have competition in the market.

Take a look at my topic "tweak for stuttering" as it cures most fps drops and stuttering for those on good hardware.
It is worth it to tweak the graphicsrules to get rid of the "optimizations" they've done to the LOD system (which causes the fps drops and stuttering)
My tweak has worked for many players so far so take a look and you'll be surprised how good it actually can run.

Edit: the tweak actually makes the graphics go above and beyond ultra and gets rid of pop in and stuff like that. It always displays the highest quality LOD no matter the distance from the camera and thatis what gets rid of the stutters and fps drops.

This is why I have all updates not on 'auto', rather on 'ask'. Windows 10 forces it though.
