Will changing season length affect days until next birthday?

I'm about to change my settings from season=14 simdays to seasons=28 simdays. I heard there used to be problems with the longest time span, but I never saw elders die unexpectedly or sims urging to grow up earlier than expected. So I think it's safe to use the max simdays setting.

But there are many elders in my game, and a large number are just a couple days away from meeting Grim. If I double the time span, will the game add many years to those sims' lives? I don't really want those elders to live beyond 100 years, so it would be nice knowing a little about howe the changed time settings might affect them. If hey get just 1-2 extra years I guess that will be ok, but if they get 10-14 years I will need to kill them off manually... muha.

I think the birthdays are only determined by short/normal/long lifespan, not seasons. The number of days left should not change with the changing of the seasons. I have never actually tested it, though. My seasons have been on 14 days for at least two real life years.

No, not at all. That's determined by the lifespan, which can be found in the gameplay options.

So yeah, if you have the longest season length but short lifespan, sims won't usually live a year before they die by old age.
