Will collecting water make non-off the grid sinks function on off the grid lots?

I'm working on a sort of medieval off the grid tree house. I got some CC to make the walls look like tree bark, used the plant that functions as a toilet for outdoors, got a CC chamber pot & those items seem to work BUT the CC sinks I got that look like water pitches & barrels are not flagged as off the grid so they don't work. Short of figuring out how to edit them to change them to be off the grid (which I have no idea how to do), is there a way to make them function?

If I have the lot trait to have water under the ground & place a well on top to collect water, can I use that to power my sinks?

Can water be harvested from the ocean in the Island Living neighborhood? Can water be boiled to get salt?

  • I play vanilla so can't help you about the cc sorry, but I do remember that my sim was only able to collect water from the waterfall in Sulani, not the ocean, so I guess you can only collect fresh water. Also you can collect snow in winter or if you have the wishing well you can collect water from that too. My sim was able to take bubble baths and thoughtful showers just by having the water catchers, collecting water and having the wind turbines and solar pannels, they really do make off the grid life so much easier :)
  • Thanks @mcrudd. I found that after I collected water from nearby sources I was able to use the sinks.
I need to find a medieval looking windmill CC so I can collect power. Not sure if that will give me heated water or not, but if it doesn't, I'll just sell the electricity to bring the bills down.
  • Since this post mentioned water collection, I found a rustic water well cloned from a dew collector. I can't seem to get water out of the well (never tried using a dew collector yet, but I should to see if my sims can have the "collect water" function from it.
Do the dew collectors automatically generate water without interaction?

It's giving me ideas to want to make a sunflower function as a solar panel. LOL. Or maybe a light-gathering crystal that would fit in a more medieval or mystical setting.
