The reason I'm asking is because I didn't realize they were there until after I totally remodeled that fixer upper "the TLC" apartment. I like what I did and I don't want to move. I spent all day remodeling that apartment plus everything is updated ( electrical, plumbing). I backed up my game files which I always recommend, placed the EnableDebugCheats mod. Loaded my game then proceeded to remove the plumbing pipes, electrical box, mouse holes, and floor drain. Saved my game then closed Origin. Clear my cache files then restarted my game. Went back to my save and everything stayed gone. Now on to playing in a regular apartment without all the additional nonscense. Note: I'm still waiting to see "if" the rat pee odor or the roaches spawn later. I'm hoping neither will with the other objects already gone. But so far so good. I am one happy simmer! :D ---------------------Update: Nov 8, 2016Those objects (mice/rat odor and roaches) did spawn again. I was able to remove both with the mod. I think the apartment is now free of all those items. @blunote00 You cannot remove that trait in that apartment, but what you could do, is to even it out, with the Gnomes trait: "While Sims are sleeping, gnomes may appear late at night to fix any broken objects" :)

Hey there. Nice to see you online. I bet a modder will have the issue resolve before someone on the sims team does. Doesn't seem like anyone took the time to actually play test with these traits. If they did then they play Sims way different than I do because I'm totally annoyed.

Nice to see you too and probably. That is what Simmers are for to break the Sims 4 for them. ;) Hang in there and yeah stuff not working right stinks.

@blunote00 I think with the gnomes fixing and either a high handiness skill or simply calling the reapairman, can make living there sort of bearable. I like the apartment in general and the idea of it being a bit rough :) But I have to admit, that it is also getting sort repetitive after a while, handling rats etc. Oh and so far I have noticed besides ordinary things that breakes: 2 ratholes 1 insect place, waterplumming leaks, odor near the window towards the balcony and the major electric (dont remember what it is called) breake.

@Marnetti :D They appear at night, when your sleeping... ;) I havent seen them in person, cause it happens pretty fast in the night. But you get a notification, that they have been there.

The locked traits are a thing because the devs thought it would be fun since in real life you are usually stuck with these kinds of things

Kind of put some more thought into it and made some changes in order to compromise. Since blocking anything is going to be an issue I made a few changes to the layout. She can now easily access to tighten water pipes, fix electrical, place rat traps, spray roaches, and mop odors. Although I liked the original design and I can live with the redesign.

I'll have to take some new pictures so you guys can see the changes. ;)

Very funny indeed. Thing is... all the things wrong with this apartment can be eventually fixed/replaced/upgraded or eliminated in real life.

I've made changes to my apartment in real life (i.e. added a better backspash in kitchen / upgraded shower heads). Yes I know you aren't supposed to make changes but when the old crappy backspash fell down and I upgraded with newer tile, they property owners didn't have a thing to say. I saved the old blackspash and they know were exactly where it is. However, they've not put the old crappy one back up. I guess when your upgrade is better it's not a problem. ;)

but surely in real life rat poison or a good trap gets rid of rats and mice and spray for bugs, we had a mouse once. we lived near a stream, anyway the council came put in a trap four days later we found it in the airing cupboard dead. no more mice.
I really like those little flats except for the mice and bugs. I really hope the mods can help us.

to be honest i'm thinking of moving my sims back to the country, what with noisy neighbours and flats with mice and roaches there aren't a lot of apartments left that I want to play in, the rest are too big.

I'm really sorry to read you don't enjoy the Needs TLC lot trait. :(
It's my favorite trait so I definitely don't want them to nerf or alter how annoying the environmental effects are. I love my sordid little environment that actually affects my sim's emotions and moods. It's nice to finally have some environmental game play that affects my sim and creates consequences for them. It does suck that the trait is locked, but there are only 3 lots in the entire expansion with this trait, so I really hope the simmers who dislike this trait will find more suitable dwellings instead of calling for the removal or nerfing of the trait.

It's totally ok to not like it, but there are people who do like it... and we can only experience it in 3 locations... the simmers who are not fond of it have every other lot and apartment in the game to enjoy. :(

P.S. For those who are interested in the lot trait, there is a modder who has unlocked the Needs TLC features so that you can place them on your regular lots.
I haven't seen a mod that allows us to unlock locked traits, though. :( At least not yet.

As usual taking away the ability to make the game your own. How many times do I have to say I want to play the game my way? Glad I am still playing wait and see what they are going to do with this game before I spend anymore money.

I just want make it clear, I don't like that is locked. I don't like that there are so many things that we don't control in this game. I like the trait but I want to choose where it goes
