Wish leaf piles didn't have the green stink...

So I get that if you leave a leaf pile sitting for a long time it will get gross. But the game just puts big piles on the sidewalk throughout town and the just sit there with the green stink clouds a...

Why is this still not fixed! I try to avoid them when story telling as I can't seeing these in my screen shots! Someone mentioned a mod to combat these I am interested in that!
