Yes and no. I would really love the option to have rentable lots in all worlds as was possible in Sims 2 and 3. Or even better, have actual hotels. I loved hotels in Sims 2.
I simply use freerealestate on and let my Sim stay there for as long of a vacation as I desire. ;) - No, I enjoy being able to go there at any time and even live there.
- Ayradyss7 years agoRising VeteranMy "No," is a qualified one, like many of the responses I've seen here. No, I wouldn't want Sulani to be as limited as the current vacation sites in TS4 are. I definitely want to be able to move a household in and have them live there regularly, not only visit.
That said, as others have said, I'd love to have some kind of rental lots and/or second home system that would allow Sims who live in other worlds to come visit for a while while maintaining their main home lot in a different world.
I really love what @CK213 has done using the retail lot as a second home. I'd thought about trying that, but so far have not given it a go. It's great to know that it works out, for the most part. (CK213 -- have to say, I was a fan of all your TS3 series posts. Great to see you're finding ways to make the most of things in TS4.) - annaliese397 years agoSeasoned AceI always wanted a beach/tropical vacation world for my families, so I was a little disappointed at first. Then I thought more about it and I realised I would be missing out too if Sulani wasn't residential as I also have families in mind for island life. So, my true answer is I don't wish Sulani was only a vacation world, but I do wish I had the option to have holidays there. I really hope we get hotels and holiday homes at some point so this can happen. This would open up all worlds as both residential and potential holiday destinations, which I think is the best solution for everyone. Right now I'm planning for my main household to just visit venues and stay at generic lots in Sulani, which doesn't feel quite the same.
- kirpiplays7 years agoSeasoned AceI would have preferred if they had had a major update/overhaul and made existing vacation worlds into normal worlds and given us the option to have rental lots in any world, including Sulani of course.
- PalmArrow7 years agoSeasoned AceNo, I'm enjoying my sims living there, that is exactly what I wanted. But it would be nice if sims were able to vacation in any world!
- Joanne_Snow7 years agoLegendNo, BUT they should've given us the option to place rentals in any world. I still think I wouldn't like seeing a lot of tourists cruising around Sulani though, as I think we would if they'd given us hotels, but rentals would've been nice. I'd like to have a rental apartment for example, for sims who want to go on a city trip. Or a BB rental, for those that want to go to a colder coastal world.
- Like others, I'm yes and no - I haven't moved my legacy family there permanently, as I do like winters with snow, but they seem to be spending most of their time on the islands - there's still a lot that I haven't explored. It would be easier if they could use a real rental lot - I mentioned in another thread that I had a huge problem with Sims barging in on my 'generic' lot. (I've changed it to 'National Park' and so far, that seems to be discouraging visitors.)
I would really like to be able to live permanently in all worlds - I love Granite Falls, and that would probably be my choice for my 'main' house, but my kids and teens can't go to school, so I can't just live 'on vacation' all the time. Also, there are limitations on rental lots with build-buy.
It would also be nice if we could have multiple residences. I don't necessarily need to access all the junk in my Sims' treasure chest at every location (indeed, it would be nice to have separate treasure chests for each house), but it would be easier if I had access to the household inventory.
Given the current limitations on vacation worlds, however, I have to say no - I think that in general, people want worlds they can live in, not just visit. - amapola767 years agoSeasoned AceIt looks like most people are on the same page, as am I: I'm generally glad that it's a residential world, but would like to have had rental lots as well. But, at least there are work-arounds for that.
- I am not a huge fan of vacation worlds, vacation worlds end up being some of my favorite worlds and I am always sad when I have to return from the vacation worlds to the "real" world. So I like it how it is because it's like having the ability to live in a vacation world and not having to leave
