Your Collector Sim's Private Museum

So I built a private museum for everyone's collectors to use. It has a tiny, live-in apartment upstairs for those that wish to convert it into a home.

So, collectors! Empty out those overloaded inventories and start displaying your hoarding proudly! :D <3 I give you, your own private museum!

Also, if you have the old version that I made, please delete it and re-download this version, it's the completely finished version that can hold all collections.

OLD POST BELOW, Above is updated tour of the finished museum. But, a lot of these pictures are still what it looks like and some notes while I was play-testing it, so please do peruse! I've just put the updated versions of those pictures above, just the finished touches.

It works! You can put your items inside the building and leave it there and no one will take it, just keep the lot type to generic and that should keep it private.

The Top Floor Layout, those three connected rooms are for Fossils/Microscope Prints/Space Prints/Aliens & Space Rocks. The area near the apartment is for your most prized collectibles, that's why it looks all fancy there:

The lower floor has the Frog & Fish collection room and the Crystals/Minerals/Elements room, it's a bit small, but it's got a lot of shelving. Then there's some open space for whatever you decide.

This Lot Has Been Play-Tested.

Ok! So, I tested this with my sim Bob Builder, lol I randomized him in CAS and he came with no shirt, lol. The small apartment upstairs works just fine.

It's been AMAZING, I changed the lot from Museum to Generic and not ONE sim has stepped foot into my private museum since then and I've had Bob Builder living there for about a sim week.

It's perfect, sims just walk by and don't enter the building or even come on the lot! YAY! Private museums for all us collectors! No more inventories full of everything!

I've been play testing the museum to see how everything would work. I made this area out back for a garden collection.

I tested planting things to see if you could plant on a generic lot and you can, but for some reason apples won't stick, you can plant them, but they disappear as soon as your sim stands up. Everything else plants just fine, but you'll have to tend them like normal.

You DON'T however have to feed the frogs or care for the frogs! I fixed up a frog/fish collection room and took out those dumb fountains I had in there for the museum requirement. There's now enough room in the room for the entire frog and fish collection in game.

I have a room in the museum for every collection in game and the big white room on the first floor is all for sculptures and displaying paintings on the walls, there's also a workshop. The layout has been edited a bit and become more organized and better since I first posted, so some of the rooms have changed a little, but for the better, I hope. :D

Oh wow this is an awesome idea. I have been just displaying collectibles on my family's lot, but there are way too many. I didn't realize that you could display them on a public lot.

I wonder if dev's can make lockable display cases for this type of thing. That way you wouldn't have to worry to much people could come to the lot and see your collection on display.

I like the idea of having a museum that is run by players that you can place your artwork and what not in for different exhibits.

Alright, so I have determined you can travel to the museum, save it and then back home and back again and all the collectibles stay in the museum saved there.

I just moved my tester sim Nani Maid from the Goth's house to move in with my other tester sim Bob Builder and then had her visit the museum again and the collectibles were still there. So your sims can move around town without having to move their collectibles. And you can play rotationally while keeping your collectibles at the museum.

I'm going to switch households entirely and have one last sim go to the museum to test it out.

EDIT: You can switch households and everything and your collectibles will stay at the museum. YAY! I was so worried that none of the collectibles would save to the museum, but they do!

I'm thinking of making a second private museum. The one pictured here is my first real build project in TS4 and I think I can do better. I'm quite into building and I'd like to get very good with TS4 building. I think I'll do my second private museum and not base it off of a building, but think up the design on my own.

I'm only trying to decide what architectural style to use. I would do beautiful Greek columns, but whenever you close up to the columns for pictures they disappear.

Anyone have a good idea on what kind of architectural style I should try the second time around?

I first created the whole external structure on a platform (including walls and entrance), and then deleted the platform from inside the house, leaving only the outside platform. i then added platforms inside and readjusted them as i please, its a bit of a headache but can be done.
