The only DLC I bought this year were Paranormal and the Courtyard Oasis kit. I like both, but Courtyard Oasis was the one that impressed me the most. I also liked Fashion Street kit, but I didn't buy it; I was fortunate enough to win it in one of the giveaways that @simgirl1010 did, for which I'm grateful. I don't know if I'd have bought it myself, though, after I learned that it included some full-body outfits with footwear. I personally feel that those are too limited in their use and diminish the value of any collection (especially the tiny collections that fit in kits).
As for free updates, my favorite things were the Spa Day upgrade and the new hair colors (FINALLY I could have actually black hair for the few Maxis styles that I actually use). I already liked Spa Day, but the upgrade for it was outstanding. The calendar system gets an honorable mention, but while it's very nice to have, as a non-user of Seasons, I don't really find much actual use for it at this point. I'll probably also like the pond tool if I ever get the time to play around with it properly. :lol:
