Cannot save my game in an apartment lot in one save file if I use buy/build

I assume the lot is built on?

If you bulldoze the lot - back it up in your library first, can you save then?

I've tried buldozing the lot, empty or with built on, I have not been able to exit the lot by going back to the world or simply saving my game.
