Unpredictable but constant game crashes

Apologies, I don't utilize forums very often so I'll try my best to make this succinct and understandable. Essentially I have been experiencing constant but not consistently timed crashes.  This is unrelated to any updates as far as I know given that its been happening for months (i've just been dealing with it by saving often), but that being said I'm fed up with it at this point. I have a sizable amount of CC including the typical script mods (MCC, UI Cheats, TOOL, etc). To my knowledge (and with the help of better exceptions) my mods stay consistently updated to their newest version, so I again believe it shouldn't have anything to do with that. Months ago when it first started happening, I attempted to separate my CC in halves and just comb through it to find the issue, but even that was surprisingly ineffective. Looking at the error codes, I see it must have something to do with cc (likely script I assume) that uses a specific type of python, but I remain clueless given that the combing didn't really work.  Out of curiosity, I recently attempted to remove all script mods and delete the thumbcache, and it did still crash. At one point I thought it was just the save that corrupted, but then it happened again in a new one too. I heard it could be a graphics/hardware issue, but I just got a new Macbook which should handle everything more than fine, and it still happens. As far as I've seen, the crashes only occur in live mode. Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated, any questions please feel free to ask, thank you.

  • These crash reports don't help with CC/mod issues. Also, not only script mods crash games, and I really, really hate that that bad advice is still out there. It has never been true.

Do this to find out if a mod/CC issue is your problem. I've made it a deeper test to get rid of possible other issues:

    1. Run a game repair
    2. Drag the Mods folder to your desktop and delete the local thumbcache file. See vanilla and 50-50 testing in How to Use Mods and CC.
    3. Test in new save.

Hello, thank you for the reply and apologies for my late response.

In any case, I retried the 50/50 method as suggested. I didn't get very far though as upon separating my folder into two I discovered that both halves appear to function fine on their own, but cause the game to crash when put together. This leads me to believe its possibly a mod conflict? Which would conceivably be an easy fix except I negated my script mods from the 50/50 testing as I had cleared them of being the issue, so I have very little clue as to what other random pieces of CC could be conflicting. Then again, thats just my theory. Other than mods like BetterExceptions or apps like Mod Manager, I'm not really sure how one would go about identifying the conflict, if that is indeed the issue. All that being said, thank you for your continued help.

For mod conflicts, I recommend gradually adding mods to the folder.

Hello, I just wanted to come on here and thank you for you're help!

In some amazing struck of luck I solved the issue using the method above, and happened to clean out my cc folder at the same time. I was never able to pinpoint the issue, but I haven't had any problems since then, so I think I must've removed the problem child by accident in the midst of it all. In any case, thank you.
