CAS-Bug: Male nose slider partly inverted ...

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.93.146.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Get Together, City Living, Cats & Dogs, Seasons, Get Famous, Island Living, Discover University, Eco Lifestyle, Snowy Escape, Cottage Living, Outdoor Retreat, Spa Day, Dine Out, Parenthood, Dream Home Decorator, Perfect Patio, Cool Kitchen, Movie Hangout, Kids Room, Backyard, Fitness, Toddler, Laundry Day, Moschino, Tiny Living, Niffty Knitting, Throwback Fit, Bust The Dust
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Go into CAS and edit a MALE nose from the side (e.g. for hooked nose)
What happens when the bug occurs? The male nose slider is partly acting different than usual. It's inverted now. To get a more prominent nose (e. g. longer or hooked nose) you now have to move the mouse to the right as if you want a shorter or straight nose. And to get a shorter or straighter nose you now have to move the mouse to the left as if you want a longer or hooked nose. But normally it's the other way around.
What do you expect to see? For the male sims ... Moving the mouse to the left to get a more prominent nose. And moving the mouse to the right to get a shorter/straighter nose.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

I hope I described the problem properly.

Thanks a lot in advance!

@SimsNateia   That is very strange indeed and no, from what I saw in your video, the slider's behavior is not normal.  Since the reset and repair options didn't work, the only other thing I can think of is perhaps competely reinstalling the game.  First, move your Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 folder to the desktop or some other location so that you keep all your saves, tray files, etc.  Then uninstall the game through Origin and reinstall it.  Launch and test the game without adding anything to it and let us know if the sliders are working properly or not.

  • @JonaO703  You know what? My slider problem is/was really ridiculous compared to all the stuff that happens in the world/in real life, but ....
.... Yippee, your advice worked, Jona, it worked. A complete reinstall of the game and its expansions solved the problem. :D Seems the game was just confused and needed a complete new beginning. Thank you sooo much for the advice. Just hadn't thought of reeinstalling.

Really, really appreciate your time and effort.

I will push the button "Accept as Solution" after you've read my reply. : )

@SimsNateia    Hooray!  I'm so glad that you got it working.  It might seem ridiculous to some but I completely understand.  For me, this game is an escape from all the real world stuff and it's really frustrating when things aren't working properly. :-)

Now, if you moved your original TS4 folder out, you may want to try moving your saves and tray files into the new folder.  Just be aware that some of it may have been corrupted by whatever caused the problem in the first place and adding those back in just might recreate the problem so keep that in mind.  Happy Simming! :-)

  • @JonaO703  Thank you so much for your words. Your're so right. Sims is an escape. And when the escape is not working it's very frustrating indeed. I'm glad you understand that. : )

I will absolutely keep in mind what you've wrote and be aware of potential problems when moving saved files back. I'll do that step by step, just in case something is really corrupted.

Thanks a lot, Jona! It's wonderful to see that there are still friendly and helpful people out there. : )
All the best and Happy Simming!

PS: I will not forget to hit the Solution button, promised! :D
