December 5, 2023 Patch Broke My Game

I'm sorry, but that mod list is insane. Taking them out one at a time, or putting them back in one at a time will mess up the settings on all my houses & sims. I barely have any of them listed, yet my game keeps crashing. When it crashes, it seldom leaves an exception file and my monitor shuts off. Behavior having to do with the integration of Windows 10, and old video card, a newer monitor, and an older computer. Video card is relatively new, because I replaced it with a new card (same model). Computer is a Dell Alienware gaming computer that I am its sole tech support and beyond.

My Sims hesitate to do anything. Transition screens aren't activating like when teens I follow to high school try to go back home. Various health items stand still. Holidays aren't activating for all the Sims. Before I took out all the mc mods, they kept resetting themselves and stand there doing nothing after I've given them a bunch of tasks to do.

Sorry, but whatever was in that patch ruined my game play. Judging by all the items in those mod posts, how could they release something like this that would destroy the game & mods? That's just crazy that the hero person knows most of them that are now broken. 98%+ of my mods come from.

EA, what on Earth did you do and why?

EA does not support mods but they do allow you to play with mods/CC if you so desire. It is up to those that create the mods to update them when there is a patch and it is up to you to update the mods you use. One of the heroes maintain a list of known broken and updated mods to make it easier for you and others to update their mods. Changes in the game are necessary to support a new expansion and at the same time some reported bugs also gets fixed.

Same here. I tried removing all my mods, didn't help. I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, didn't work. So upset this happens every time there's an update and especially right before the release of a new pack. Super disappointed.

@jpkarlsenThat's still an insane list. There are 2-3 posts about all of them, and I couldn't even pick out the ones I have vs. don't have. Like I said, I don't have but 2-3 listed, I think. My eyes are old and reading all for a few mods was overwhelming. They knew about this and I don't remember the date I saw on those hero posts.

Luckily for me, my mod creator put out a fix the day the Rent expansion was released and now another behavior has emerged. I'll play it without the mods to see if it's true, but when the game is stable with the same mods, but EA makes a patch that ruins most of them like that, they are not without culpability. They know people use mods and it's oh so easy to blame users instead of the manufacturer of the game. They allow it like OpenGL, so don't cover their butts please.

I used to write software, so I know what's going on in this industry. Don't get me started, or I'll get put in time-out because y'all can't handle the truth about it. Thanks.

@xXCAZHXx Unless you purchased the latest expansion that came out yesterday, you might continue to have issues. Most of mine went away because that patch had everything to do with 'For Rent' and integrated the changes.
  • @KingRayVeteran Installing mods is always user choice. Maxis isn't responsible for that choice. Many users who rely on mods that can't be removed without breaking part of gameplay will choose to wait to play or to start a mod-free save for the meantime. The mod list here is typical for a major update or EP.
