Fence disappears

Hi! I’m experiencing some difficulties when building after the latest update. When I’m trying to place a rail the pole shows but not the actual rail (I’m putting in a picture). Something I’m doing wrong? Bugs? I’ve never experienced this before.

Also when I use the debug menu I can’t find all the items that should be there. I’ve tried enabling and disabling testingcheats and tried different combinations of showliveeditobjects and showhiddenobjects. I’ve searched debug and both chosen one of the debug options and just pressing enter. I’ve done it in both build and buy mode. Still I’m missing fences, rocks and other items. I do have CC installed and MCCC mod but nothing else.

Please help! I’m starting to lose my mind…

  • @JohannaBergefur As I look at your screenshot I'm wondering if there may be a factor in that area causing the rail issue since it looks like the area may also involve a platform, raised/lowered area, etc. Sometimes factors like this can be fidgety to work with for certain build aspects one wants to add. Do you have this issue with the rail when adding to stairs in a simple room? Would you be willing to share the build so I could have a look in my game? (directions in spoiler tag)

    Spoiler
If you would like to share this home/lot to the Gallery I would be happy to test it in my game. You could name it something like "stair railing issue". Then please add a comment in this thread to let me know the name, and please let me know if your User ID in the gallery is different than it is here in the forum.

As to the missing items in debug, are you able to see some of the debug items and just not all? Are you able to view things there that you know are from the extended debug items that are revealed with bb.showliveeditobjects? (Directions, in case they differ... I use the first method, though there are simpler versions there also.) I've found that getting the debug items to pop up seems a bit fidgety at times to me, but I just assume I did something wrong. I keep at it and end up getting them though.

...However, if you can see items from hidden objects, regular debug stuff, plus some of the items from the extended debug cheat, but some are missing, I would recommend testing in a vanilla save (with your Mods folder moved to the desktop and deleting the localthumbcache.package file) in the manner in this spoiler tag (below). You don't need to save the test vanilla game save, it's just a way of seeing if the Mods, CC, or anything in the current Mods folder is causing the issue.

    Spoiler
Exit the game. Move the Mods folder from your "The Sims 4" folder [Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4] to your desktop (save it for reference) and delete the localthumbcache.package file in your “The Sims 4” folder. Then check in a new game save to see if this issue is still occurring. You can then test without saving – or in a new vanilla game save – in order to identify which CC/Mods are causing the issue. Then remove or add updated version(s) of the Mod/CC causing the issue.

If that's not the issue, can you share a screenshot of one of the debug items that you've used before (from whatever build you used it in) that you cannot find when you reveal debug items via the cheat(s) now?
